2014 MVPA National Convention- Louisville, KY

Word of caution , if you are driving up 65 from Nashville and parts south , give yourself plenty of time , there is LOTS of road construction , down to 1 LANE in some spots north of ETOWN ! We are going in a day early just to give us some wiggle room . We hit a amazing amount of road work this...

New guy from Illinois with an M37

Yes , they are Fun MV's . 1953 was a big year for M37's . Mine is a 1953 . BTW , serial # is on a cowl tag and on the L/F frame rail ,behind the wheel . They should match . The deal with the oil pump gear is that the Military engine blocks are somewhat different than the civilian version , plus...

New guy from Illinois with an M37

Congrat's on your find ! M37's are one of the easiest MV to work on and find parts for . BTW ,M37's don't have magneto's , just a set of points . When you changed over to a civilian distributor , did you remember to change over the oil pump gear ? What year is your M37 ? doesn't look like a B...

    CTIS just stopped working.

Agreed , but I still would not feel real comfortable driving a distance with leaking seals , plus the gear oil getting on the brake linings , that's a for sure OOS on a DOT check . One HD tow job on the road could make the bearing fix seem like a bargain .

    CTIS just stopped working.

Agreed ,oil bath bearings are great , but not in A3 rockwell , and it WILL take the GAA right out of the bearings , ask me how I know . You must service those bearings . Wait till he gets a price on the CTIS inner bearing !

    CTIS just stopped working.

Hard to say , but if you plan on driving home better get it serviced ,at least the rear boogie's . This system IMHO was OVERSOLD to the GOBERMENT as a great ADD ON , talk to anybody who worked on them and you find out the CTIS on the A3's was a constant fix !!!! . If you can find a shop that...

    CTIS just stopped working.

That is GEAR LUBE ! not a good thing , it usually means you have gear lube in YOUR tire and BEARINGS ! The same thing happened to me which is why I changer over to the A2 bearings . If you can check your wheel bearings I am sure you will find the GAA washed out of the bearings by the gear lube ...

    welder choice...

If you want to practice welding , get a decent machine , I like the Miller and or Hobart Mig ,easier to use and you can usually catch a sale . You want to practice on the machine you are going to WELD with , this way you learn use of the heat range / wire speed on THAT machine . I have both...

    CTIS just stopped working.

On my A3 , I removed the CTIS bearings and seals and replaced them with A2 bearings and seals . That system was and is a NIGHTMARE ! I will bet you have gear oil in some of your air valves , you need to fix that ASAP as the gear oil will wash out the grease in the wheel bearings . It is easier...

Just a quick note on the wiring from Vintage , if you want to add some lights or maybe an electric fuel pump in the future , have Vintage run the wires in the harness . I had them run wiring for a electric fuel pump back by the tank and it came out great . You just give them the details and they...

Looking for a deuce, what can you tell me about these?

If you can get both for $4000 - $4500 , you are doing good . You could part them out for more than that . I would take him out on his offer especially if he gets them running , that way you could hear them run and drive . good luck.

    M35a2 motor swap

The Kublo's are pretty good people . I am glad this fiasco is working out for you . Man this has been a lo-----oooooong road for you . But you are getting closer to the finish line. Just think how great that FIRST ride will be !!!!! :tank: Bob k

Looking for a deuce, what can you tell me about these?

The price is good for both , even $5000 or $4500 would be better . All the pieces are there but you would probably NEED both MV's to make ONE good one . However , they are going to need some big time PM's to get them into shape . They are NOT ride and drive . If I wanted a Deuce that I wanted to...

    leaks on axles

It comes down to the KISS principle , look for the simple stuff first . I would pressure wash the entire carrier and then you will have a better picture of whats leaking and where . BTW , I Had the NEW Harley guy going nuts looking for a leak , then I had to tell him , he was LESS that amused ...

    leaks on axles

ALL MV's leak some , you have to decide what is excessive . As they say if it's not leaking it's out of something . We are talking gear lube , NOT brake fluid or anti freeze !!! those are a no no ! Pretty much like an old Harley ! LOL not to hijack the tread , but on leaking Harley' s How...

    leaks on axles

You need to be a little more specific , what area on the diff's are you talking about ? , there is a LOT of places for the gear oil to leak , all of which can be fixed with new seals or gaskets . TM calls for GA grease for the chassis or are you asking about gear lube ?
