Thanks again.
And "You'll need everything his has that yours doesn't" just cracked me up!
I won't be able to see the truck it's coming off of, but the guy that's picking it up is sharp so it should be alright as long as he has the list.
Next I'll work on some tires.............

Went to the annual Vietnam Veterans reunion in Kokomo Indiana again this year. This was my 23rd time.
Drove my Deuce the 90 miles.
There were 2 Vietnam gun trucks, Wild Thing, & Psychotic Reaction.
We would occasionally parade through the park, giving rides & getting our pictures taken. Great...
When I bought my first Deuce, it came with the Winter Cargo Cover installed.
It looked good on the truck.
Problem is, you can't readily roll up the sides for parades & such, so we took it off in favor of a vinyl cover.
Upon removing it, we discovered it needs repair. There is a second layer of...
M1075,
Thanks for the info. I should find out today what he's asking for it.
You say it should run the same as an M809, but I'm not familiar with that model either.
Is there anything specific I should watch out for? Any problems that plague this particular model? Pros & cons?
Eric
Spotted an M812 at a truck lot.
I'm used to my deuce. This thing with the 14:00/20's is BIG!
All I know right now is that it looks good & I was told it "will run down the road".
What should I look for? Any guesses as to value?
Your advice would be appreciated.

Deuce Radiator
Will an XM211 radiator fit?
There is one that looks perfect in a truck near me in northern Indiana. Owner wants $700 for the truck with a siezed gas engine. Has a winch.
Radiator could probably be had cheap.

Tire Siping
Bjorn,
First chance I get, I am going to take a spare tire & wheel & see how it comes out.
I'll take pictures, then see if I can figure out how to attach them.
Eric
I know of 2 bad experiences with Homier. They have some good deals, but they also sell a lot of crap.
A buddy bought a Milwaukee 1/2 inch drill. Supposedly reconditioned. Tried to drill a 3/8 hole through a 4x4.Found gears were stripped. When he confronted Homier at their next tool show, they...
Based on a lot of experience in the auto parts & repair business, I believe a good rebuilt is absolutely "as good as new". I was quoted $150 to rebuild a spare Deuce 60 amp from a heavy equipment/truck parts rebuilder in Elkhart Indiana.
Eric
I took off the old boots & cleaned out all the old sludge.
Had so much trouble installing them, that I called a buddy. I figured out it was a LOT easier to take the wheel off & use 4 hands.
I used 7 tubes of grease per wheel. 276 "pumps" per tube.
Eric
Does anyone know where I might find instructions on the proper military tie-down of cargo covers & end flaps on a Deuce?
Must be a manual somewhere.
Thanks,
Eric
Looking at some of the pictures, I see there is a difference between "landing mats" & military PSP. Note that the PSP interlocks on all 4 sides. Has very little tendenct to shift once a few are hooked together.
For getting unstuck it probably doesn't make any difference which you use.
I plan to...
There was a LOT of PSP used in 'Nam too. In fact every SEABEE, whether a carpenter or a heavy equipment operator, had to practice laying the stuff for emergency runway & road repairs. It's really great stuff as it interlocks on all 4 sides.
I've tried to locate some since then, but no luck.
Eric
Finally got around to replacing a torn knuckle boot.
I seem to recall someone "guesstimating" it would take about 2.5 tubes of grease.
Would you believe closer to 7?!
Seven tubes X average 270 "pumps" per tube = A LOT
