    What's This Receptacle For?

Massm, Thanks for the picture. I had no idea what it looked like. I sincerely hope I'll never need one here in Indiana! Regarding my wife: Flatlander- My wife HATES to shop. Hits a mall about once a year. Jason- She has one sister. Married. Cuts firewood & dresses-out dear. When she's not at...

    What's This Receptacle For?

Swingfire heater? When I got the truck from Minnesota, the guy told me about a heater that connected to the large pipe below the right headlight, to warm the engine, batteries, etc. The receptacle would be a logical place to power it from I suppose. Never seen the heater. And yes Stretch, my...

    Interesting brake problem/ resolution.

For penetrating oil, Seabees in VietNam used a mixture of 2 parts kerosene & 1 part OIL OF WINTERGREEN which we got from the Docs. Worked great. Around here, the best I've found is PB Blaster. Better than liquid wrench. For lubricating & preserving, CLP is tops. I'd guess I've used it for 20-25...

    What's This Receptacle For?

While putting the winter grill cover on my M35A2, I noticed a small receptacle by the right headlight. Facing the truck, it is above & to the right of the headlight. It has a spring-loaded cover & a single wire going directly to the battery +terminal. What's it for? I know, somebody's going to...

    Winch install

Thanks for the info guys. I'll see if NAPA has the studs. Do you suppose I can just make some gaskets with regular gasket paper? I can't imagine why not. Thanks, Eric

    Aervoe military paint...Any comments?

When I got the M35A2 it was painted with Aervoe #34087 olive drab. I used aervoe in spray cans & gallons to paint the bed & wheels. Very easy, as the flat paint hides imperfections. Holding up well. Spray can touch-up is easy. My trucks are stored inside, so I don't have a fading problem. I'll...

Cable I have is 12' long, just as you found in the TM, Kenny. Nice to know what its intended use is. Now I need to take pics of this green metal plate & clamps I got........... Eric

    Hy-Per Lube

Contacted a local Lubricants dealer, looking for GL1. He was telling me about a product he sells called Hy-Per Lube. Claims it should be added to engine oil, gearboxes, & differentials. Says it is similar to the "original" STP, in that it sticks to gears, bearings, seals, etc, so that there is...

    Military part number?

Picked up a cable. Heavy rubber 14/12 conductor. Has male & female ends with spring-loaded covers. I thought it was an extension cable for a trailer light hookup, but not quite. I believe one end will fit into my deuce trailer outlet with a little rubber lube. The other end is NOT a trailer plug...

    axle and brake questions

Thanks Jon. Good info. After some thought, I guess sticking with the pressure bleeder is the way for me. I made one with some misc pvc fittings & flex hose. In case anyone is curious (as I was), I soaked pvc, cpvc, reinforced clear flex, & some gray plastic valves in both Silicone & standard...

    axle and brake questions

I checked out the Speedbleeder site. Looks like a great idea. One of those why-didn't-I-think-of-that kinda things. Anybody know the correct size for a deuce? Eric

    Trip images (Seabee stuff)

RE: Right and left stencil While the nice crisp stencil jobs do look nice, that's not how they were typically done during VietNam. We used 1 quick pass with a spray can, leaving the image kind of translucent. Like in the picture JDToumanian posted. I'll see if I have any pics of front bumper...

    First deuce

Freight Train, You insinuate that driving a Deuce 900 miles is insanity. You may be right, but I've got to tell you, it was FUN! At this point in my life, I try to avoid those rare moments of sanity. Eric

    First deuce

I paid $5000 for a near-perfect 1970 M35a2 with an ammo trailer & a pole trailer. Deuce also has the insulated cargo cover, cargo compartment multifuel heater, winter covers for the hood, side panels, & grill. Drove the whole works home 1,000 mlies without a problem. I know there are cheaper...

    Fuel can spouts & gaskets

Just got some good GI 5 gallon fuel cans. I need a couple of good spouts, & 6 new gaskets. Anybody know who has some? Thanks, Eric

    Jerry can adapter

When we used them to run tent stoves, there was just a tube attached to the cap. We would then set the can upside down supported by some ammo crates & let it siphon. Eric

THE OFFICIAL WINTER MOD THREAD, I need parts lol!

I recently picked up a brand new "woodland" camo cab cover. It's a heavy vinyl material with a black mesh lining. If this sounds like what you need, let me know. I could take some pictures. I'm looking for a good CANVAS cargo bed cover for my '52 Stude deuce. Eric
