Just Curious,
When were multifuel engines first put in deuces?
I don't remember actually seeing any in 'Nam while there '66-'68, but I seem to recall hearing about multifuel trucks of some kind back then.
Most of our SeaBee vehicles were older, around late '50s.

Eric,
Howard & Sons Towing & Salvage 574-867-6808 has the truck. I looked it over last year when it was at a farm near here. Engine locked up. Has a winch. Body is solid.
Howard is a decent guy to deal with.

Jeez Kenny, how old do you think I am? I was 6 when the Korean war ended!
Actually, the only trucks I recall in 'Nam were military M 35's (M44?) & the like, and some "civilian" IH dumps & flatbeds. The deuce I drove in '68 was an M35 gas. I think it was built in '57.
Oh, & my "career" was 2...
Recently bought some miscellaneous stuff. Included were some front lifting shackles that are different from the ones on my deuces. Considerably heavier rings/shackles, & the mounting pads are thicker & 3-bolt instead of 4 like on mine.
Mounting pads tagged 00-740-9514 & 01-315-8921. Shackles...
I've been looking for the parts to put a soft top on my Deuce in place of the hardtop. One guy has a set (rails & frame) marked NSN 01-740-9596 which he says MAY be right.
Does anyone know how to research an NSN without having to pay?

A few years ago I got some large "O" rings that worked really well. Might try a tractor or auto parts supply house, or maybe even a plumbing supply.

I've been reading the threads about cold weather starting, ether injection, heaters, etc.
Maybe I'm just lucky, but my M35A2 starts just fine at 5 below. It rarely turns over 4 times before it starts. I do put anti-gel in the fuel & that probably helps.
I've used the flame heater to help it...
