Well, he had a plumbing issue and inexperience with hydraulics. You don't have to run the power steering and a/c pump in tandem and I would not do it. I still think it is an interesting idea.

My understanding was that he did it both ways without issue. He showed both ways for the benefit of viewers. Did he say he had issues with hydraulic??

You may want to consider a hydraulic driven A/C pump like Sean's "Abel" on Youtube.

FYI I have been experimenting with WMO to fire this type of heater. This things are very sensitive to flashpoints and don't like anything other than diesel. It won't stay lit. Problem is likely related to the fact that there no compression, as in a diesel engine. Might work at 50/50 wmo and...
