    Road trip to Alaska

Maybe you should wait a year. Then I could go with you in the 814. :jumpin:

    i JUS BOUGHT A DUMP

The Cummins are beasts to start. You will need 4 good batteries with the cold weather, and the cold nature of the 250. My 814 won't work a lick until the temp gauge is above 150. Also check your prime pump for air leaks, and all fuel connections checking for air leaks. Now once you have...

    Have you named you truck?

I have dubbed the M814 as the "Long Easy". Don't know why, other then she is longggggg and easy on the eyes........

Westy's NUTs are off ....the 5ton that is...lol

Man, I have found that compressed air works great in getting nuts off.

Anyone in the Atlanta area have a 5 ton wheel/tire?

It's a shame the 814 is down- You could slide the deuce bed in, and not touch the ends.........

    Cheap fuel for Haspin 2011?

Lets see. M814, 78 gal tank, of which she only sucks of 65 before getting air. 6 MPG(if I am lucky) and it's about 600 miles to Haspin, one way. 2 tanks up, 2 tanks down, carry the one, divide by 6, add in a fudge factor, and I will take 400 gallons, thank you very much. Can I just run a...

Deuce is not working with me!!!

If my lower radiator hose wasn't leaking so bad, I would bring the 814 over, and give you a 24 volt jump start. If you are still down on Friday, and UPS delivers my hose, maybe I can come over and help you get her started. I have ether( had to use it on the 5 ton until I got the good...

    Installed Radials, now truck wanders

I have found that until the tires have a little wear, they tend to wander because of the extreme tread depth. UPS runs real thick recaps on the rears, and I can always tell when the mech. has slapped a set of 4 on the rear. The rear end squirms until you have about 5 grand on the tires. The...

Black Ice Driving - Atlanta area

Just spent the night moving doubles for UPS. Wasn't bad, as I got off the road just as it started getting bad in SC. I did have to shift in the yard, and used the time to learn what not to do with a semi truck. Also learned that even with traction control, you CAN get a tractor to bring the...

A few tire questions related to snow/chains...

I like the firestone T831's. Seems to be a good tire/tread pattern.

M813A1 I got - what do you think?

Is the primer pump there? If so, check all the fittings, and O rings. My 814 has a air leak somewheres in the fuel line, and it makes the Cummins do strange things

    Ford snowgo

Is that on the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic? Man, I would love to have that job.

NOT a deuce, but definitely a sweet MV.

Forget the R8 and the plane. I want the tractor and trailer. I can put those to work............

    M813 Grill Differences?

My '73 M814 has the tube style grill, but does not have the front weight plate-It looks like it was never installed.

serious discussion of 5-ton speed increase via gearing (transmission, differential)

I have no problem running down the interstate at 50 MPH. As long as you can maintain 45mph, the law doesn't care either. You just have to plan your trip with a 45MPH avg- and deal with it.

    Para Cord Steering Wheel Wrap

I think I will have to do that to my 5 ton steering wheel. Great Idea.

    Thinking of Buying a M36A3

Nothing like a XLWB. I love my M814. Plenty of bed to carry stuff, rides better then the shorter WB 5 tons. Just remember, all that wheelbase means that you need a ton of room to change direction. It can be a handful in the city, and you have to plan your route well. Plus you have to wear...

My First Deuce Arrived (Long post with Pics)

As for the gear shifting, learn how to double clutch the tranny, and your speed shifting the gears will improve. For the non rollback hill starts, start working the left arm, as the parking brake is your friend. :driver:

    Got Snow?

We had just enough here in SC to keep me inside on Sunday. Ended up with 1.5 ", which is rapidly melting as I type. Not enough to bother with starting the M814.
