Be carefill, I had the same problem blower moter and switch were bad, can on sometimes, then drivine home on a cold dard night, the switch blew out and shorted out the moter, lost all power, engine died. Had to replace both moter and fan switch , it was fried.

We found the short, the heater switch burned up and the fan motor shorted out both have been replace and I'm up and running again. Also replace all of the dash light bulbs that were burned out,

I got 3 m1008's from that lot at Ft. Meade 2 had bent drive shafts, one has ben replaced and drive great, the second truck is still waiting on a replacement shaft. Used ones are hard to find.

Still looking for that short, (fuseable link). Wish now I had a tow bar, better that paying a tow truck.

Have not had much time to look it over, but I did find a short wire that was broken located at the junction box on the fire wall, this wire was only about 5" long, thin and was attached to the second bolt in fron the left to the junction box bellow it also connected to the 2nd nut on the left...

From all I've read , sounds like you are right, fuseable link has blown somewhere, I think I still need to replace that heater switch of motor, when I turned it on thats when the truck died.

I just found your reply, I had the same situation last night My M1009 died w/ no power/lights, nothing. It hapened when I tried to turn on my heater, its been working on and off maybe a bad motor. Could the heater switch or bad heater motor cause a fuseable link to blow? Thanks Randy

I have a problem with the heater switch/fan motor, the fan runs then stops, sometime I have to turn it on and off . Does this mean I have a bad fan motor, of does the switch go bad on these CUCV's?

If my heater motor shorted out, would a blown fuse cause this kind of problem? Engine died, no lights or power..
