Try outside King county. I wouldn't want to drive one in Redmond or Bellevue unless I'm headed out of town and never come back. The cops will absolutely pull you over.
Which LS engine are you going to use? The LS1, LS2, LS3 and LS6 will have its power band in a very different RPM range than a diesel. I'm not sure if that matters to you, but it is noteworthy. There are truck versions of the LS engines that might be a better fit.
Awesome idea. It would be so fun to go off-road in a HET toterhome and spend time out in the country. I spend most of my time as a nomad in the Nevada backcountry and have been eying these millitary trucks and researching the practicality of owning one and camping out of it while doing my work...
It seems suspect to me to think a broken harness would fix the problem and its risky to give them your money when they will not stand by their diagnosis. They may be guessing at what the problem is. A very slippery slope to be on.
