M8xx series vs m9xx series off roading

I read here that you can't drive in reverse in low range in the M939. Does the M8xx series have that issue? I would think this would be a problem trying to get unstuck, going back and forth.

How much can a Humvee push?

Nonsense. The force required to accelerate an object of a given mass by a given amount will always be constant (F=ma). It doesn't matter if you push or pull.

    M1078 with Camper Trailer

Looks lik Braun makes a strong box. Sounds like you got a good deal on one. Do you think the extra weight of your truck will have a negligible difference in a roll compared to that video?

How much can a Humvee push?

No offense taken. In your trailer example, that doesn't mean the truck can't physically push more than it can pull. It means the hitch was a weak point and bent.

How much can a Humvee push?

Inexperience in what? Are you are experienced in jumping to conclusions? It can push as much as it will pull. It wasn't said what would be mounted up front to handle the load dispersing the weight to the frame.

How much can a Humvee push?

Couldn't it push as much as it can pull?

M923a2 steel vs fiberglass hard tops

I don't have any experience with the M393 hardtops, but as an armchair steel soldier fiberglass (composite) is the way to go. Having 4 late model corvettes I found the composite is light and it resists dings. Big league.

Considering a M927 or M928 to live in...

The expedition portal site is a good fit for this topic. I've seen the general consensus of military vehicles lacking positive input over there. The military vehicles are slow, but I'd be dammed if there is anything else out there value wise that can compete off-road for the money. I was there...

Considering a M927 or M928 to live in...

I've been curious about the leakage too based on comments from another thread here. It sounds like your setup doesn't have an issue in the rain. I'm happy to hear the success story. Where do you find new seals? I'd like to check them out and price them.

Killing NHC 250s -what we have learned killing 3 of them.

+1 for "don't attack the OP". I think he found a limitation of that vehicle. In looking at some of the LMTV's, there is an elevation limit stamped right on an engine plate (4,xxx feet). That could mean several things, like there is a limitation of the engine and maybe even there is a history of...

Killing NHC 250s -what we have learned killing 3 of them.

Sorry to hear about your engine troubles and I appreciate you sharing your research into the failures. I'm curious about two things. The missing piston squirters and the air/fuel ratio. Were the squirters used on engines with less power? I'm wondering if they removed them because the engine was...

AM General M934 How difficult is it to find repairs & how much will they set me back?

Someone could expect rain dripping down the sides of the extensions front and back, but not in the center or left/right sides. Do I have that right? I could probably live with that.

AM General M934 How difficult is it to find repairs & how much will they set me back?

The awning sounds like a good plan. I do typically "weather" storms in the winter. It can be nasty out in the country. I don't know much about the joints involved in allowing the expansion. Is the m934 van known for ceiling leakage w/out an awning?

AM General M934 How difficult is it to find repairs & how much will they set me back?

I plan on living in my 934 having a computer desk, server rack and other electronics as well as bedding. Would you elaborate on leak problem from rain?

AM General M934 How difficult is it to find repairs & how much will they set me back?

Red flag is up after Alices information about it being reposted with the same bidders. It was suspect already in that it was listed as a 2003, but not as an A2. The owner should know this. It looks clean and I'd take it for $7k if it had 100% ride and drive.

    Bad tie-rods?

I'm inexperienced with 5-tons, but tires I do know. Some of that looks like chunking. That can happen when the tires get too hot. The photo shows chunks missing on the LHS. This could mean a simple toe change to get the tire patch right so it chunks across the whole tire and not just the LHS.
