Zach, I did the "1 ton conversion" on my K5, it's still a ways away from running but I'll try to offer what help I can. What vehicle did these come off of? Is the Dana 60 missing rotors or complete hub assemblies? Are you running or planning a lift at this time? I used Off Road Design for my...
I like your winch install, did you bolt or weld to the frame? your fabbed piece looks like it could replace the front crossmember altogether, gives me an idea actually.
$750 is a great price for Line-x, Locally for an all-over spray (with Bed) I was quoted $3000 with myself doing some of the prep. Is this a friend price or would he do other vehicles as well? Can't wait to see the results.
Another vote for General grabber AT2's I am very impressed with their performance in wet and snow. The best A/T tire I have owned and the price was better than the competition when I bought them years ago.
Got some more work done to the interior, front and back glass installed (that was a pain). Mounted the seats with seat heaters under the cordura seat covers, haven't decided if I am reusing the headrests or not. Installed a 1/2" marine plywood insert covered in acu camo fabric with a...
Still in progress, got sidetracked with another project but I'll try to update soon. working on interior now, fabbed a frame that the 2 buckets and console mount to and will slide as one on the old bench mounts. couldn't make the '08 mounts work. installing seat heaters, some guages, new glass...
I plumbed a mechanical oil guage to the sample block and I believe it to be accurate. I think you should be able to rig something up for an electric guage provided the block is grounded well. There may be better locations however as listed above.
Thank you for your replies, I am trying to figure out if power steering fluid and components are ok between 180-220 deg, which is where this possible setup would put them. I am not considering a stand alone heat exchanger at this time. found plenty of posts online about adding coolers but none...
nope, the 10bolts were below the springs as well. The distance between the axle centerline and bottom of the spring did increase due to larger axle tubes and taller perches. this will result in a small amount of lift.
You're going to have to measure. If the 14bolt is already installed you should notice the "snout" of the Dif is longer than the 10-bolt, reducing the distance needed for the driveshaft. depending what perches you welded on the tubes you will have gained an inch or so of lift from just swapping...
My M1008 hasn't had a TH400 for quite some time now, so my stock tranny cooler is going unused. My newer trucks have power steering coolers from the factory. currently I am replacing all hoses etc. and wondered if it would be a good idea. I would flush out the cooler real well and plumb it...
Allen, very nice work, your attention to detail in your work shows. Do you have any more pics of your gauge cluster? Are they angled towards the driver? Very clean install, I would like to copy it if you don't mind.
Pictures are of dry pieces, I didn't expect it to be that shiny, I believe it will dull down with time. I thinned it about 10% with Xylene, and shoot it with a $50 primer gun with a 1.8 tip. My surface prep is sanded with 200 grit and thouroughly wiped down with Xylene. If the existing surface...
Pennsylvania winters have been harsh on my M1008, more than other trucks I've owned. I just replaced rockers, doors, fenders, and wheelwells this time around. I've been coating everything with a couple different products to defend them as I go. frame and misc from cab back was stripped and...
