Rich Johnson has it almost right. When the military used arctic camo they still used the same patterns, but 1 is white, 2 is green, and 3 is black. At least that holds true for several CUCVs and deuces I've seen up here in Alaska.
Assuming the HMMWV Mile Markers are dimesnsionally similar to the old 9k lb Warn electrics for the HMMWV, it'll fit perfectly in the 'hole' between the frame rails, bumper, front crossmember, and radiator support. Pictures of mine are here...
I've broken 3 long, 1 short. 2 longs and a short were due to a locker that decided to impersonate a spool. Last one was probably a pre-existing fault in the shaft and the -45 degree temps that day (spider webbed the door window shutting it that morning, and threw the belt on the way home from...
The connectors pictured are weatherpack connectors. You can get the plugs, seals, and pins at Napa and attach them to whatever pre-wired trailer plug you want. And for those wondering which terminals are for what:
Nope; they won't work at all. The right one extits into the firewall, and the left one angles out too far and runs into the frame. I shortened the right up and put a bend right after the flange to get that side to work, but when I found that I would need to cut every runner off the left one...
I've run Denman Coyote 305/85R16 tires on stockish (stock steel wheels from a Chevy van with 5" backspacing) on my M1008 for a few years now. Theay're about 36" tall and 12.5" wide, and increase road speed by 12.5%. They've been a good all-around tire for me and I've probably put 10,000 miles...
Click the resources tab at the top of the page, select technical manuals. Page through until you find TM 9-2320-289-20 or -34. Both have full wiring diagrams in appendix E or F.
Except that per the -10 maunal, the M1009 is only rated to tow a M416 1/4 ton trailer.
Towing Capacities of CUCV Models.
M1009. Equipped to tow M416 Series 1/4 ton trailers with maximum towed load
of 1200 pounds for both cross-country and highway travel. Load on tongue should
not exceed...
I stand corrected on the battery. My truck came with smaller civvie batteries, and with the battery all the way to the outside of the tray the hose barely fit past to the inside, so I assumed the larger battery wouldn't work.
Your second idea (larger oval hole in stock filter ass'y then a snout to transition to round and a 4" hose up to the knockout) is exactly what the Banks Ram Air system was. Also included a larger single exhaust. Long discontinued, but you can find them used occasionally. I've got the intake...
-18, not plugged in, and it starts regularly on the first glow plug cycle; have to give it a bit more fuel than normal though. Drove it to work every dday for a few weeks in these temps (with the radiator blocked, the defroster worked better than my other rig).
Flip over to the warn industrial site instead of the truck & auto part. They have the winches for the HMMWV listed there. It is a industrial 12000# winch electronically limited to 9000#, and has a narrower drum than the standaard industrial 12000#. Looks like the dimensions are similar for...
They're a set of old Q78-16 "Trak n Blazer" tires I picked up at a swap meet. The tread pattern is kind of a cross between the old bias buckshot mudder and a super swamper. They look very similar to the Co-op Grip Spur.
I don't know about the hydraulics, but the Warn 9000# electrics for the HMMWV fit perfectly between the frame rails of a CUCV. This allows it to be tucked up behind the bumper so it is well protected. The mount is a piece of 1/4" plate bent into a Z shape, with two side plates to catch the...
As stated, HMMWV headers do not fit on a M1008; I tried. The driver's side one wants to go through the frame, and the passenger side one through the firewall. I managed to modify the passenger side to fit, but found a set of full length headers before I got around to doing the drivers side...
