What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

No pictures of the modding work, because I wanted to finish before dark. The shelter is sitting on my M101a2 trailer. Each wheel well was cut down 1 and 3/4 inch. Wat was cut out, was moved to the side, so the wheelwell stays somewhat intact (on picture). After the modification we unhooked...

    My new to me M1028

They sure are a lot of fun. Every dirt road I come across in my spare time, will be explored. Thank Chevy it has front and rear lockers  Only not so sure about the prices overhere. Remember, I am in Europe. Across the big pond from you guys.

    My new to me M1028

Thank you guys, will look into the bearings and locking hubs. Under accelerating and steay speed, the noise is heard, as soon as there is no power on the driveline, it goes away. M1009 Newbee: I do have the manual locking hubs, one side is an original, other side the warn version. Truck is all...

    My new to me M1028

I noticed a little more sway from left to right, a little less pulling power, and a bit more comfortable over bumps. About my question, do you have any idea?

    My new to me M1028

I have to measure the bed if you really need to know, my deuce bible hasn't got the answer. It is an M36a2, total length is 343 inches, compare that to the 278.3 from a M35a2 I Loaded the M1028 with a car lift and backing the deuce to it. Then drove it on. To unload borrowed some ramps and drove...

    My new to me M1028

Again a little issue on the M1028. When driving, I can hear a sort of grinding, low tone whistling sound from the front. It goes away each shift, but comes back when revs are going up. The noise varies with engine rpms, but when driving and I lift my foot, so the engine comes to idle, it stops...

    Military Ambulance in Holland

Hi there, another update on the ambulance project: Previously, it ran on LPG (something like propane) Now it is converted back to gas, but there is a little problem. On LPG, the car had no power and got about 6 mpg and plenty of power on gas about 8-10 mpg. The problem is now, it runs on gas...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Went to Belgium to look for a S-250 shelter. Found one earlier, but it looked bad and was leaking.. The guy there wanted €500,- for it. We walked away. The one we found in Belgium, looks a lot better. And this guy wants €300,- for it. Next tuesday we go back to inspect the inside. There was no...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Me and Scrambler went to the DMV on tuesday. Up on inspection of the M1028, they found (read: made up) some points to let me fail the inspection (again!!).. So, all the way home, I was thinking: Should I sell it, because of all the things they make up to let me fail.. But, after a while of...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Installed a second hand light switch, the old one didn't switch between normal and bright. The new one was from a Chevy Van, so needed to modify a bit. The mod consisted of pulling the old switch from its plate and securing the new one on it. Bit of a bodge fastening job with some wire, but it...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Went to see if my M36 was still in the same place I left it. Scrambler told me to go look at it, so looked around, nothing special. When I opened the door, I could not believe my eyes, new seat cover, and the passenger bench also new cover and stuffed, like new.. Turns out, Scrambler...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Went to a friends workshop, to fix a minor brake issue. First took the wheel off, no problem so far.. Try to get the hub off, wait, first get the axle out... Took the axle out, **** it's heavy.. Then the drum, even heavier.. Checked all, sanded the drum and shoes and put it all back together...

    M1028A3 Towing Capacity

Need high numbers. Going after the civilian numbers. Slow speeds are no problem here, as cars with trailers and trucks by law have a maximum speed of 80kph (50mph) For me, keeping my pulling weights, is a matter of principle. I will not do any towing, maybe 2 or 3 times a year. Also want to take...

    M1028A3 Towing Capacity

The problem overhere is, only factory papers are accepted, and the pintle hook is kinda illegal here.. There is a normal ball fabricated on the bumper. Here is what the DMV or what it's called here wants to know: Tow rating for the M1028, Original papers from factory only. (scan might be ok) A...

    M1028A3 Towing Capacity

Sorry to hijack this topic, but cant find it elsewhere.. What is the max. rated towing capacity of an M1028? This is needed to keep my pulling weights registered when I go register mine as a truck. Now i can legally tow 2722kg, but when I register to truck, they want Original factory specs...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Went to pick up some diesel at a garage (20 liter diesel, 4 liter gasoline in 1 jug) Fine for my M36, maybe even for the M1028. Then took the papers and plates from my Chevy Van, is now official exported, but still in the driveway. After all the business was done, went to a local washbox and...
