What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Went on a trip to Amsterdam. Enjoy lights on houses and afterwards blasting through all the tunnels there. :driver: On the way home needed to fill up on diesel, because I was running on fumes.. Just before the gas station my transmission decided to act up.. Just made it to the station, filled up...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

New draglink, second hand steering damper in an effort to stop the wobble. They needed replacement, but did not stop it. Tightened the bolts from the steering box, that made a lot of difference. In 2 weeks maybe inspection to turn it into a truck (legally), because of the tax law about old...

    My new to me M1028

Not loose-loose, but enough to make the whole box move when turning the wheel without engine running. Maybe a good idea to check this every few weeks, especially when you drive a lot on bumpy roads. Or pull them out 1 by one and put them back with locktite in the treads..

    My new to me M1028

Today still a little wobbly, after driving, I heard a funny noise when i turnd the steering wheel.. After some looking and listening, I found out the steeringbox was a little loose.. Tightened the nuts and went for a testdrive.. WOW, what a difference.. Just need to balance the wheels and lined...

    My new to me M1028

The draglink and damper needed replacement, the damper was trashed, more like a bicycle pump than a damper, replaced with a rancho damper. The joint on the draglink had a lot of side-to-side play. Replaced with a new one, wich I bought for too much money. (€65,-) Those parts dealers overhere...

    My new to me M1028

Been a while: Got the wobble, replaced wheels, draglink and steering damper. Looks like it's over. To do: check the kingpin springs and bushings, hook up some driving/turnsignal lights on the rollbar and keep the tank full of diesel :driver:

cure for death wobble on stock m1028

Found the source of the wobble. I swapped the wheels with the ones I got when I bought my M1028. Wobble is gone. Only to replace the draglink, then my ride will be smooth again. Not only I missed a piece of thread, the tire was warped, the rim is ok. Picture is upside down, but you will get it.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Was driving home sunday evening, when suddenly, Bang, someting hit my front left wheelwell. So left the highway next exit and checked the tires. I could not find anything wrong, so I slowly drove home, because of all the wobbling, all sandroads were used. Back home I discovered a piece of tread...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Spend half a tank of diesel for parts and still haven't got what I need. Replaced the inferior micro-car-horn with 2 from another car. Took a while to get it all fit behind the grille. Also took the horn suppressor out, the wires were toast and was running out of space. Result: a cool...

cure for death wobble on stock m1028

Thank you all, today I m going to get parts.. Expensive here, what is $32 at your place, we can expect €100+, because of import and parts dealers wanting to make a lot of profit..

cure for death wobble on stock m1028

Found this tread, before starting a new one. Just got the death wobble too.. After driving over 2 very small, barely noticable bumps in the road, all h€ll broke loose, the whole truck went up and down, I was thinking my front axle was breaking off. After stopping first i checked my pants, then...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Me and a friend went mudding in a forest. Got my M1028 all dirty, and thanks to the locker in the back, did not have to use 4x4. But when i needed to stop, i did need it. How cool is that? 4 spinning tires to get moving again . front and rear lockers.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Put grease in all of the joints in the front end. Screwed up 1 grease gun, 2 grease gun heads and 2 nipples, but the grease went in.

    RED diesel fuel?

Overhere, when you get dipped with Red or offroad diesel, Its going to cost €4.60 x tank capacity and 100% of the taxes you did not pay for them. and about 66% of the diesel cost is taxes here. One advantage here in Holland, red or offroad diesel has been canceled, if you want to run cheap...

    My new to me M1028

Cool, was looking for a dually, but walked onto this one. Has been repainted, rust repaired and been sitting for 5 or 6 years. Turned on ingition, waited for the wait light to go out, crank and run within 2 seconds.. Only thing that doesn't work, are the BO lights. The switch for the blower is...

    My new to me M1028

Hi guys, I've been on the site a bit longer, mostly in de Deuce section. Recently accuired a M1028, fairly Original, no rust, with 41.000 miles on it. Came complete with 4 chrome wheels+tires (still need to mount them) and a M101 trailer. Just got plates and passed the road inspection, so I...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Found out an M101a2 will fit behind a deuce. :driver: My newly accuired K30 (M1028) is waiting for plates, so used the M36 to pick it up.
