I have mine in a deuce I don't think you'll get voltage without a battery I think it's a built in safety feature to protect the alternator from being damaged. I have mine in my service box in a plastic boat battery box I ran a a 10 or 12 Gage wire from it to the battery. Then powered my stereo...

You can charge a third battery with it I wouldn't run a stereo off of just the wire I think it has a voltage sensor in it so it won't read a charge voltage unless a Battery is hooked up to it.

Not for the Niehoff alternator you do not. It does have to be hooked up to batteries for the charge voltage to kick on I think it has a voltage sensor. You ll also need a double pulley for it. If it doesn't come with one. I had to buy one because mine came with the serpentine pulley.

I have a dual voltage niehoff alternator in my deuce. It's a direct fit and you can run 3 batteries 24v/12v.

I will say Seafoam works great I use it myself hope you get that Gremlin figured out.

Ya My pilot bushing and I'm going to change the throw out bearing and disc as well the pressure plate is still in very good condition.
