FLU419 SEE, how much did you buy yours for? and some other questions

I agree that asking for what someone paid for a generic SEE is not very useful. I do see quite a disparity between asking prices and actual sales prices on Ebay and many listings time out with no sales (or the sales went off line). Shipping is also a significant factor. Many of the SEEs that...

FLU419 SEE HMMH HME Owners group

The rear hydraulic pump is 26 GPM @2450 psi. The front pump is 8 GPM @2450 psi. Note the HMMH has lower rear pump rating (14 GPM at 2450 psi but at 1000 RPM throttle instead of 2000 rpm on the SEE) but given their rarity I expect you are sticking with the SEE. I think the Case MB94 which the...

I am not much of a three point hitch person but I think installing one is going to be make the backhoe unusable so its and either or choice. There is no rear pto shaft as its occupied by the rear hydraulic pump. I would not be surprised if some variant of a Unimog has a "quick" conversion from...

Great news on Wabco, I expect I will be chasing down a few parts at some point. Some other member posted the handout. I just made sure it got to the technical forum so it wouldn't disappear. It is incredibly helpful for diagnosis.

A few air system comments (I have made before but they are buried in the thread. There are some very useful diagrams of the air systems student manual in the miscellaneous technical manuals section of the forum. Here is a llnk...

I got the parts to install an air dryer, just haven't found the time. My 1300L has an air dryer and I plan to try to copy the system. The biggest PITA is dealing with the multitude of thread types used by Mercedes to plumb it up. I have a wabco model with built in air pressure regulator. The...

Using my SEE for real work

I am surprised it started as the fuel was probably summer grade. At -10 I would expect it was jello. It could be a reason why you were running out of power, I expect the suction side of the fuel system was having a tough time getting enough fuel up to the Injection pump. Might be worth adding a...

SEE - Cold weather hydralic issues

I have seen comments on another forum regarding the hydraulics for SEEs being almost useless in extreme cold weather as the poster's SEEs came from down south and the fluid was too thick. Extreme cold weather in this case was in the -10 to -30 F range. I have seen the Technical Service hints...

    MRAP Lighting on M925A2

I am quite late to the party but bought a kit to install on a Unimog. I am tracing out the wiring in the components and drawing up a wiring diagram. I have the Control Box pretty well done and the vehicle interface box done. The wiring approach is definitely military. No common conductors, each...

Cool video, nice to see some background on C&C Equipment. They were definitely at a disadvantage using a 419 chassis instead of a 406. The SEE 419 chassis has a lot of extra reinforcing to support the backhoe that reduces the articulation. It would be interesting to see them run a similar...

Take a look at this thread on the misc technical manual section and look at the student handouts https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?170940-See-small-emplacement-excavator-flu-419-manuals-and-a-student-handout

SEE FYI - Front portal axles lubrication issues

If you downloaded the manuals there is a Lubrication Order. Page 16 of 38 has an illustration of the portal axle plugs. In general its a very valuable and thankfully short (only 38 pages). If you are laying under the truck there are three threaded plugs on the back of the portal. The...

I have one of the MRAP Eyecon kits being shipped as we speak for a lighting upgrade on my 1300L. I could not resist the remote control spotlights to replace my flashing blue ambulance lights that had to taken off to get it road legal ;) I don't need all the lights in the kit for the 1300L and...

Using my SEE for real work

I never noticed your "high tech" solution to the hood latches. Quite creative. Nice 3rd shot of your "drag slicks" looks like you have some interesting clay.

It might be worth giving Von Mog's a call regarding weather stripping. He does high end restorations of this Mog series and I expect he has already experimented with this. I don't know how effective it will be given the lack of a full fire wall. There is pretty much a direct shot between the...

Conti are pretty much the standard for new Unimog tires that are readily available. Plenty of folks buy the surplus military tires that are mostly Michelin XLs or XZLs. Not many lovers of the Michelin XLs on this site. There is The standard suggestion is buy the MPT 80s for predominantly off...

    FLU fuel issues

The gizmo is a differential pressure transmitter for the STE/ICE diagnostic system. Unless you have the STE/ICE reader, its worthless unless you want to monitor pressure drop across the fuel filter and want to set up a custom interface to be able to the read it.

    FLU fuel issues

Wow sounds like a major PITA. I haven't heard of crap getting to the injection pump through the filters. The stock felt Mercedes fuel filters do have a good reputation of stopping anything from getting to the injection pump. This filter arrangement was used for decades on multiple engines and...

    New FLU419 Owner, Electrical Woes

One new resource we didn't have is info on the STE/ICE system wiring. This is a secondary wiring harness grafted into the SEE in order to plug in a specialized diagnostic box which does not appear to be readily available. Is not on the wiring harness drawing. There is a download of a students...
