My searching skills are failing me now... a user here had posted up a real slick manual oil pressure gauge install with a T at the sender.., believe it was on an 802. Does anyone recall that thread, or can link to it? Considering putting one in my unicorn. Thanks
One thing that I found interesting in discussing these machines with a DRS factory guy the other day... Lister Petter provided the engines to DRS with break in oil (just like the tag states on any Tier reset units with under 100hrs on them). That's not the interesting part... he states that "We...
No, these were not offered through the auction chain. I was offered them by a private party whom I have received gensets from before. I have not made up my mind on what I want to do with the second one (the other unit was made available to a local SS member), so I would rather not discuss what...
The unit photographed had the larger dent towards the back, the other had a bit more dust on it, and seemingly a very small impression dent near the top left corner of the dead crank door. I believe both were damaged in whatever warehouse they had been sitting.... but yeah, I almost rejected...
Chaps, I didn't think it was possible. I was fortunate enough to be able to acquire 2 NOS MEP-802A units. These are honest to goodness, never fielded units as best I can tell. They still have the original tape over sheet metal seams, battery connections, heck... one of them retained part of the...
The unit that I just installed came from the big auction site... if you search 'ONAN Military MEP-002A MEP-003A Spin On Cartridge Oil Filter Adapter Generator ' it should bring you right to it. Will see if I can snap a picture after work of it installed with a Wix filter in place.
If you are going to go through the effort to do a fuel filter modification, your money is also best spent getting a spin on oil filter adapter for the set. You can better filtration with modern filters, and much easier oil changes to boot!
Craig I just looked up the NOCO unit I have in my 802, and it says it has a recover mode. https://www.amazon.com/NOCO-Genius-GENM2-Battery-Charger/dp/B00CBTRMZ4?th=1
Here is what one reviewer on the site wrote:
"I bought this to replace an old "World's Foremost Outfitter" store brand charger...
The SS user was Speddmon. His classified ad has expired, so I don't know if they are still available.

Yes, it treats them as separate batteries, with leads going to the batteries independently. I mounted this up onto the door near the dead crank switch (and moved the wiring diagram to the 'front' of the machine, to the side of the fuel tank. I cut in a bulkhead wire entry port. If you want I...
I've been real happy with this unit, charges both batteries simultaneously

Just dismount all of the military can fittings, and mount the new spin on bases right to the angle iron used for the framing there. Here is a video someone made of their setup (not the highest quality, but you will get the idea)
