Hello. Yeah the S8 cleaned up just fine, and got full functionality back (with no overload condition up to 13.5kw). Forgot to circle back on this. Thanks for the reminder.
Yeah, you should consider getting a few cans of deoxit and taking the top off the machine, and cleaning all electrical contacts (and giving the S8 a nice clean out and dozens of cycles).
To overdraw a machine by such a large amount, you are only asking for problems (safetys in place, or not). You are involving burden resistors that are sized to the actual output of the machine, so with such a massive draw, it very well might be overloading these (and there IS a small...
Back when I had my 002, the Fram units I used had all the extra gaskets for alternate uses... always just ended up tossing them. Think that would be the same case here.
And have you verified continued run condition by flipping the battle short before this happens, to see if the set will continue to run with the fuel light illuminated?
Your fault will lie with either fuel float or the float switch module. You can manually test the float as already described. There is a way to short out pins on the module to test, if you don't have other good parts to rest with.
I wonder if you cleaned out something that was preventing the burn up prior (so the current again flowed properly after cleaning) or if the burn up was present, but its time was just up to be discovered.
Soak, cycle dozens of times, soak, cycle a dozen times, soak, drink a beer, cycle, soak... that Deoxit is great stuff. Clean until you get tired of cleaning. If it were me, I would also be cleaning all of the terminal board connections in that same rear control area at the same time!
David, lets break down the manuals to their major purposes
-10 is basically the operators manual. This should do this, for this reason, etc.
-12 is a lubrication order
-24 is the troubleshooting manual, and where the majority of your time should be spent absorbing.
-24P has all the exploded...
David, have you done anything past a basic oil change, to flush the lubrication system? I know of numerous folks who have dumped their oil, and ran ATF for a short while, to do just that. Its a trick that I first saw Guyfang mention.... the ATF will scrub much nastiness out of the system. Might...
