    MEP-802A intermittently overvoltage faulting stall

Let me put a set of eyes on my personal 802 soon (or my soon-to-be-personal 802)... might need to take you up on one. Thanks

adding GFCI receptacles to trailer mounted MEP802a.

You can get one rated 30A from Global Industrial for ~$200. 50A is about double that.

adding GFCI receptacles to trailer mounted MEP802a.

Excellent point. I do think a spider box is probably the best setup for what Mike wants though. Safe, easily deployed, and readily adaptable to any situation.

adding GFCI receptacles to trailer mounted MEP802a.

OK, so you replied while I was still typing. So you can add it to the trailer, or you can simply use sheet metal screws (or Id probably bolt that receptacle panel in place) right on the side of the generator itself. That will then allow you to snake wire from the box, down and into the machine...

adding GFCI receptacles to trailer mounted MEP802a.

To answer your question pointedly though... would you ever be running the genset just to use the outlets, or do you want to use the outlets, while its hooked up and operating your residence? If you will run the genset by itself, without sending power to your interlock (by means of turning off...

adding GFCI receptacles to trailer mounted MEP802a.

Hi Mike, welcome to the forum. Are the two plugs on the genset insufficient for your needs already?

    Testing Aux Fuel Pump Operation

The liquid level sensor is the culprit. It has internal contacts, and a float which engages/disengages them. These can become inoperable, telling the set that its empty when its not... or the reverse, only half working (the lower limit) and as the fuel level rises, the shut off top doesn't...

    Testing Aux Fuel Pump Operation

Its a great feature... but not one to be blatantly ignored. They work great (until they don't, and the entire volume of your external tank has been pumped in and subsequently pumped out of the day tank on the genset... it happens).

    Fixing up a MEP-802A

And since you are already messing around, I would personally swap the thermostat with a new one, when you are all done flushing, and are at the final fill stage.

    Fixing up a MEP-802A

I would run it a few times with just regular tap water from a hose. Then after a couple runs, put with distilled and get up to temp, drain that... and move to HD coolant of your choice.

    MEP-803a overload circuit

Well this machine is an 04, reset in 08 or 10.

    MEP-803a overload circuit

I don't know when they made the vendor change, but like you have said a few times, thats an irrelevant figure. This one was dusty in the rear of the control box, so certainly with the liberal washing it got... I hope the next owner will be problem free. She tested fine.

    MEP-803a overload circuit

I am not sure if its new or old... blue plastic body with Kraus & Naimer info. The machine has been closed back up and moved out of the garage.

    MEP-803a overload circuit

That's awesome Guy, the forum thanks you. I took the operator cover off this morning, and set to checking all TBs, all connections, and to bathe the S8 in deoxit, like it was visiting a Turkish spa. I found two wires on a TB that were not loose, but could take an additional 1/16th of a turn. I...

    MEP-803a overload circuit

It was also doing this when testing 5.4 + 2.7kw. Does anyone have a simple wire schematic for the S8 that is cleaned up? What seems more likely here... something is miswired on the S8, or that the S8 might be faulty?

    MEP-803a overload circuit

Ok so riddle me this, Batman... So I have a little bit of time to play with this today. Just hooked up the bank, and got it to temp and flipped it on. So I am getting about 8 minutes of run under load (about 75% on the gauge, about 10.8kw of dryer element). So the generator is still...

    Florida Permit/Inspection for MEP installation

I don't pull permits, as a general rule. With that said... it seems the least annoying way to do this would probably to have a locking receptacle put on the side of a structure (as already said), and just use a cord with locking connector on it. Even if you intend on the set being stationary...

    MEP-802/803 fuel return improvements

If only ALL were captive, our lives would be so much easier. Sadistic people I tell you... and howdy from Western MA :)
