You are not all that far from me. I am about six miles northeast of Springfield. Don't worry about becoming addicted to green. It is the best kind of addiction to have.
I haven't been on the site much since last June. It is nice to find someone so close.
Were you looking for axles only or would you take a whole truck? I know Vancil Contracting on Peoria Road has a no top OD deuce sitting back in a fenced area. I don't know the condition, as I can only see a...
All I can say is I had a lot of trouble back in 2001 when I tried to get title to my M1028 that I got from Boyce Equipment. Boyce gave me the SF97, which I took to the main Secretary of State office in Springfield. Because there was no place for me to sign the SF97, they could not handle it...
Perhaps this is the vehicular equivalent of emperor penguins. The new chick basically sits on top of the parent's feet and moves with the parent.
Perhaps it it a case of a larger truck loving a smaller truck a little too much . . .
Perhaps the larger truck was really hungry but just couldn't...
I got a few pictures. I had some chain link fences and gates getting in the way, not to mention some of their other stuff. Perhaps someone with more knowledge can ID the trailer. The camo deuce seems to be in fairly good shape. It does have some rust at the bottom of the driver's side door.
Something I forgot to mention yesterday. There is a local construction contractor (Springfield) that has two deuces sitting in their lot. Just from driving by, one I can see just part of the front end. The other I can see fairly well and looks to be in reasonably good condition. They don't seem...
RE: Re: RE: Hey you Illinois guys
I priced plate/resistration for an Deuce weight class vehicle about a year and a half ago. Way more expensive than a one ton. What I came up with was over $1200 in fuel tax bond, registration, and plates. The fuel tax bond was $500 (one time) alone. That was...
It seems to me that if there was a complaint made, the township should have a record of it. Since it is public business on the public tax dollar, the complaint (including the identity of the complainer) should be public information. I would demand to see it. If they operate on anonymous calls...
RE: Re: RE: Good Deal!
Coming back on I-72? I'm just a few miles off of I-72, a little northeast of Springfield. Not a deuce expert, but could be available when you pass by. I doubt I will be able to own one, but would not turn down a chance to be in close proximity and maybe even drool over...
Mine is a daily driver. It lives an easy life. Pretty much small things here and there. When we get snow, I put 500-850 pounds of sand and cast iron weights in the bed. The biggest load I have had in it was a 2,000 lb. pallet of ceramic floor tiles. No problem. Smoothest ride I have ever gotten...
RE: Re: RE: Grrr
My wife knows French. A polite translation of merde is 'fecal material'. The translation is "My truck is sh&#".
Wait until you come back. $2000? I have decided to essentially do a gradual restoration of my rather poor condition truck. I get it back from a reputable shop...
When I used to have a nice driveway to work in, I used a product called Protect All that you can order from www.campingworld.com. I used it twice a year, once in the spring and one in the fall on the tires on my wife's car. I actually took them off the car so I could scrub them completely clean...
If something (up to perhaps deuce size) was passing through Central IL along I-55, I would be able to store it for a while. It would be outside. I don't have a crane to load or unload a 1600 lb. object, though. At least not now.
Drat. I could convoy with lenz1079, but my truck just isn't in in good enough shape for a trip that far. Perhaps next year. On top of that I have a longstanding commitment to work on a Habitat for Humanity house. I found out about a week ago that H4H set the beginning building blitz weekend for...
In Illinois, last time I checked, you could have a small biodiesel operation, essentially personal use, without being bothered. Go larger and the state will want to have a few (taxing) words with you. Our governor and legislature have bankrupted Illinois. They have jacked up business fees and...
