6.2 turning over, but not starting.

Use Wellman 070's. These are the stock plugs that the military uses. If you go to Autozone or some such place, they will give you AC60's (I think?). These will not fit the stock CUCV glow plug connector, the tips are too wide. When I needed them, I ordered them through INDUSA ($60 + shipping)...

6.2 turning over, but not starting.

If you need to reprime the engine, try hooking up one of those vacuum hand pumps used to bleed brake lines to a fuel line coming off the filter. Pump until you get diesel. Then hook everything back up, and you may have to then bleed the lines as described above. I did this when I replaced my...

    Glow Plug Switch

It may have possibly hurt something. How long was it cranked? Having little metal parts bouncing around inside the cylinder is definitely not good for the motor. You can try getting one of those little magnets on a collapsing rod (like a collapsing antenna) at Autozone or Walmart or wherever...

    Another "what's this?" question

When I bought my M1009, it had what appears to be Velcro stuck to various places on the outside. There are several pieces on the hood, a piece on the passenger door, and even some under the tailgate. Any ideas what this might have been for? Thanks.

    Another fuel leak....

Well crap, it worked earlier. Try this one. It's the one on the top left this time. http://www.lmctruck.com/ICATALOG/CC/full.aspx?Page=130 Edit: If you do have to replace the pump, it may help when re-priming the motor to use one of those things used to bleed brake lines...it's a little hand...

    Manual Glow Plug Install

I've noticed a few people on this site saying the Wellmans won't swell. When I replaced mine, I had two swollen ones - one came right out but I noticed the tip was bulging a bit, the other, was a pain. Lots of yanking with Vice Grips and cussing was involved. They were, in fact, Wellman 070's.

    Another fuel leak....

The location you describe sounds like where the lift pump is. To be sure, maybe you'd like to check this... http://www.lmctruck.com/ICATALOG/BZC/full.aspx?Page=120 There is a picture at the bottom right of a diesel lift pump. Hope that helps.

    Air compressor and inverter

I would like to put an air compressor and also an inverter on my M1009. I looked around previous posts, and couldn't really find anything that helped me too much. Is there a way to add an air compressor with an otherwise stock M1009 setup? On the passenger side, there is a long space on the...

    so what is it

The same thing happened to me! (Almost) After I got the new pump put back on, I sat back, and started cranking, confident that my truck would start once the new pump pulled fuel up from the tank and that I could then give myself a pat on the back. After about 2 seconds, something made a...

    M1009 rear window crank needed

Check LMC Truck http://www.lmctruck.com/ I've been told the gears are easy to break, and that this happens a lot when the rubber seal that the window fits into gets old and shrinks, keeping the window from easily rolling down, so more force is used trying to get it down and the gears get...

    fuel additives

I had heard biodiesel is better for lubrication, but I didn't think it was that much better. Maybe next time I fill up I'll add a half gallon of biodiesel and see what happens.

    Manual Glow Plug Install

I'm a little confused. I set up my manual glow plug switch (in an otherwise stock system) with one wire going from the terminal where the blue wire used to be (as pictured above) and the other to a 12V ground on the dash (a screw under the cigarette lighter). I hear the relay click and the GPs...

    Glow Plug Tech Article

I couldn't find the Wellman 070's on Ebay when I needed them; however, I was able to buy them through PayPal off INDUSA's site (for $60) at: http://www.indusadist.com/web_site_new_2008_005.htm Or, you could maybe use one of the other distributors listed on WAP's (Wellman's) page at...

    so what is it

Mine did exactly this twice, with two different causes. The first time, it was the fuel filter. The second time, it was the lift pump.

    What might these be?

I found a bag of these in the glovebox of my M1009 when I got it. I have no idea what they're for, or if they even have something to do with this truck. Does anyone know what these might be?

    How are these glow plugs?

RE: Re: RE: How are these glow plugs? Well crap. I got them out and tested them with the ohm setting on my multimeter (one point on the threads, one on the tip where the wire attaches) and I got nothing. Except for one...seems it swelled up and won't come out. Does anybody know any way to get...

    How are these glow plugs?

I suspect my glow plugs are keeping my truck from starting when it's cold. I have puffs of white smoke from the exhaust, but it won't start without 5 minutes of cranking or starter fluid. And I don't like doing either of those. But, before I spend $90 for plugs, I want to be relatively sure...

I need a bolt! Please help.

I need a bolt! Please help.

It seems the bolt that bolts into the engine block and holds up the bracket on the end of the starter motor fell out of my M1009. Could someone please tell me what bolt this is (size, thread type, length). None of the ones I have lying around seem to work. Thanks a lot.
