I'll throw my solution in here... I picked up a plate bracket with a built in light from a local trailer shop and used a couple of self-tapping screws through the left corner of my bumper. I then found the appropriate wire in the trailer harness and tapped into it, tucking the wire neatly...
That is awesome... I'd probably get in a huge amount of trouble if I had that truck, especially with a communter rail line 50 yards from my front door.
The vent line worked great. As it happened, I was planning on using the hand pump that AMSOil sells for use with their bottles, and right in the box was an adaptor that plugged directly in line. I probably could have gone with a small funnel and worked it that way, but this turned out very...
That's an awesome idea with vent line... that's gonna save the day for me guys. I'll head out to start working on it right after I finish poking around SS. Thanks.
I thought I had a simple one tonight. After a week or so of near constant rain, this afternoon/evening the weather suddenly turned wonderful. Of course, I felt the need to put some work into a truck as soon as that happened. I brought my '84 M1009 over to my apartment, pulled the rear diff...
When I got insurance on both my M1009's, I just called Liberty Mutual and explained to them that I'd bought two ex-Army trucks. I gave them the VIN and warned them that I'd heard that gov't VINs don't also show up in the database. When the computer told the agent that it wasn't a good VIN, she...
I fixed it the really simple way last night... I limped it 2 blocks over to the local trans shop and asked them to fix it. $150 and it will be done before I get out of work this afternoon.
I have two ex-NJ National Guard M1009's that I would be more than willing to sell to the USO. They will both need a good amount of work to make them presentable, but I have at least gotten both of them running and driving, all the way up to highway speeds. I'll be happy to provide you with...
I finally fixed the glow plug system on my '84 M1009 today. Unfortunately I noticed relatively quickly that it was bleeding trans fluid from somewhere near the radiator, but I couldn't find the source. All of the connections I can see on the drivers side of the radiator seem dry. Oddly, I...
I tried NAPA this afternoon and they couldn't help me. My next attempt will be to stop by a local auto glass place since my better half took the hour long drive down to the CUCV's parking space and brought back the glass and channel for me the other day. I probably won't get anything more done...
My two fresh State of Florida issued titles arrived this morning. I submitted the form on January 20th, so its just over a month or wait time for these.
Definately talking about different stuff here. I've been trying to find a solution to actually mount new window glass into the raise and lower mechanism. There is similar rubber used to mount M1009's rear window glass into its mechanism, but the "sweeps" that are fixed to the doors and...
If you happen to have one of these door glass filler pieces I'm still looking. I just got back from a quick visit to the local Chevy dealer. They can get it in about 3 or 4 days, but the cost is $62 and change! I'll search out a local auto glass repair shop and try them next. If only I...
I thought of cutting down the filler from the rear piece, but then I noticed that the -20P listed a different bulk part number for the rear window filler compared to the bulk number for the door glass. If I can't find anything else, I may use your silicone caulk idea.
Just thought you guys might like to see some of these pictures from last weekend. I was swapping out the transmission filter on my '85 M1009. Unfortunately the job took twice as long as it should have since some National Guard mechanic once decided that the trans gasket would work much better...
My 85 M1009 came with a busted out driver's window. Its been covered over with a couple of plastic trash bags since I picked it up. Last week, I received a nice big box from LMC truck that held my brand new replacement window, and I spent a while yesterday trying to get it installed. I did...
I bought one a couple of weeks ago. I can't get it to fit on any of the glow plugs in my '84 1009, nor will it fit on any of the 5 brand new Wellman 070's that were collecting dust in the glove box. It seems that the spot where it narrows down is just a hair too small, so I might try removing...
