I know on other GM's I have worked on, there is a power stud and starter stud, along with a small stud. Sounds like you are putting in on the wrong stud. But even worse it sounds like you are installing it with the power still connected, which is a good way to fry your electrics.

So if an american company can build it for less or close to what a british company can, the american company should always get the bid.

Those aren't CUCV's. Side mirrors and headlights are all wrong.

Not to be a smart azz, but did you replace the bulb with the correct one? The regular bulbs look the same but you need one with two elements, one for the stop and one for the turn. I only say that since I did it once on a 72 Cutlass. :oops:

Actually that is probably what is it. The skycops were probably assigned a civi truck, tacticooled it, and put it into service. If you look closely at the cab, it looks more like it is a pickup, rather than a M1009/K5. Most likely a GSA-type assigned short bed p/u.

After working at Autozone once upon a time, it is possible to get at least two, maybe more, crappy alternators.

There are three people on craigslist here in the Middle Tennessee area selling them for $50 each. One guy that has pictures has two off of CUCV's that he is selling for that price in OD.
