So I buy a new well nut, put it in the tank, and run a machine screw through it to compress the brass insert. Then I just install the rest of the parts from the existing drain valve and I'm in business?

So I ended up pulling the drain valve, put a bead of Hylomar Blue around it, and put it back in. Waiting for it to cure and will start reassembly tomorrow. Is this a reliable fix or should I just order the replacement part and be done with it? Thanks.

Well I finally got the fuel tank out, and it appears that the fuel leak was coming from the dry rotted rubber gasket around the drain valve. Anyone have any hints as to what is available over the counter as a replacements? Thanks.

Ok folks, I have read through the instructions to remove the fuel tank, and I am still having trouble. I have removed the following so far: - Top cover - End cover (fuel tank end) - Radiator - Perforated heat shields on either side of radiator - 4 bolts that hold filler neck to angled plate...

So does the fuel tank come out from the end, or from the side (opening the side door)? EDIT: NVM, finally found my electronic maintenance manual, and I am in the process of printing it out. I need to disassemble the whole **** thing just about. Oh well.

20 minutes south of me would put you in the middle of Fishers Island Sound. I am located near Foxwoods. Unless you meant south along I-95, which is west.

I haven't gotten the tank removed yet, that is the plan for my 2 days off starting tomorrow. It is a plastic tank so I'm not sure how it could be repaired that would stand up to the diesel fuel. I received another quote for a NOS tank for $425 and may just go that route for peace of mind. Still...

A quick google search should allow you to find the original military TM's for your unit.

How would you recommend the tank be repaired? I was quoted a price of $550 for NOS.

So here it is 7 months later and I've still yet to get the fuel tank pulled. SWMBO is on my ass to have this thing running and connected prior to nasty weather. So much for relaxing on my 2 days off this week.

I live in Ledyard. I do plan on putting the batteries on a trickle charger for a few days and hope for the best. I have to pull the tank and check it over.

Bad1989, Would've been good to meet up but oh well. Sadly it appears that my fuel tank does have a leak in it after all, so I'm gonna have to replace it. I did get a quote from one company for $500, that seems a lot for a plastic tank. Looking for other options. I could use the contact info...

AutoZone tells me that both Optima Red Tops that came with the set have dead cells - have to wait a bit to buy new ones.

Well, I finally got some time to work on this. Removed the front panel and found that the fuel tank was plastic, and had a dent in it but no cracks. Added oil, coolant, fuel, and hooked up the batteries - nothing. Reset all the breakers, emergency stop switch, and then realized the dead crank...

Made it home from Albany this morning, and had a Bobcat that I rented waiting on me. I had the Bobcat delivered to clear the **** snow off the driveway, and to unload the -803A. My little JD 325 with a plow just doesn't have the ass to move all of the snow we've gotten this year. While...
