And this is why I read evry CUCV post I can..
good stuff, so if the wheel is straight but has a LOT of play in it is it normally the steering arm that is bad?
Walmart.com: Tires
I'm lookign at some of these in the stock size, 31-10.5 15 for my m1009
working on the KISS principal to not muck with things until the truck is running 100% in other areas first.
price could be better, but they look cool in person,
plus, free install and although...
Military Tires
so has anyone actually purchased this tire and wheel combo ?
I would think that with the correct lift they would work?
( they don't look like you could do much with no lift but drive straigh )
Ive not been around long enough to understand all the "issues" with Alfa, but...
oh how I love the search feature...
got to run to Harbor freight anyway, need a grease gun, some sand paper and now a pintle hook combo...
sure I'll walk away with soem other crap I didn't need but hey.
might grab a louder horn too..
I've actually snapped 5200 series with a BII Screwdriver and a adjustable wrench.. they are not that tough
it takes some technique, but was much simpler then signing for the "master key" from the motor pool or security.
yes, Following along,
probably does not include shocks etc... rear blocks
Ive been lookign at 2-6 inch kits online,
really like the looks of the big tires and tall lift, but know I need to remaincalm and only maybe lift it 2-4 and not go too big with tires
I just got the...
my front shaft was already removed from my m1009,I just purchased I am going to swap the u joint while its out ( rusted and frozen up)
BUT there are no bolts to bolt it back to the Transfer case, does anyone know the correct size bolts so I can go buy some?
thanks
after lookign over my truck again while it is getting a rebuiltengine installed I found the front drive shaft in the rear cargo area, looks like the U-joint was toast so they removed it ( a long time ago it seems)
the ball joint part seems ok, and except for the fact it looks pretty rusty, the...
that full package of theres is quite the setup..
I'm thinkign tuff country Heavy duty kit with front and rear springs, shocks and necessary brake lines or whatever.. ( sterring drop for a 4 inch?)
the reverse shackle stuff seems great, but not going to wheel this thing too hard, just want...
OK Ive decided:
4 inch lift with some 33 inch tires ( I'd love 35's but don't think the stock axles will hold up that long)
any suggestions fromt eh peanut gallery on what brand of lift kit and where to get it?
not going to use blocks in the rear, springs all around
got the...
good story!
what brand etc walmart tires did you git? when I pick my truck up fromt he engine swap I'll need new tires
sometimes there prices are decent
I'm still laughing at the "like the PRC for its portability " myself
seriously those things sucked when we had them on active duty, they woudl do in a pinch, we used to send the guy on guard duty out with them before they started buyin gthe nicer Brick handhelds..
Best idea is to...
ok the general idea I'm getting is that the axles in the 1009 are not that sturdy and anything too big tire wise will not last long.
31-32-maybe 33 is ok according to most.
I'm sure if I put some aggrressive 31-32's I'll be just fine, won't need to regear or anything
not makign a hard...
well a friend of mine is the BMO, and he was pretty sure anything I needed done to the truck he could do, he was mad I didn't bring the engien to him for a rebuild. I had to tell him I was in a bit of a hurry to get it running on its own so I could move it around some before I left on my trip.
well seeing as I just added a engine to the pile I have about 1000 worth of parts in a pile right now :-)
wish I had seen the GL list stuff before I bought mine, seen some nice ones on there, how much do they usually sell for on the GL?
