I had the privelage of working with some of the men of HMX-1 in 2007 when Pres. Bush visited the facility I work at. The POTUS is in very good hands with them.
The preps behind a VIP visit are always a lot of work but the rewards are great too. One of the green tops overtemped slightly while...
This is the same setup we have on the emergency generator at my workplace. It is on a 10 second transfer switch for emergency lighting purposes so when utility power fails it has to crank, come up to speed, and be online in 10 seconds. The diesel has an oil heater plus coolant and battery...
Might also try a Left-hand drill bit after center punching the remains of the screw. A lot of times I've had the heat from drilling and the bit grabbing actually loosen the stuck fastener...

Thanks Bruce - will give them a try. I have my local tire guy checking too. After the work of separating the LAV rims/runflats from these tires they really want to see them on Ol' Blue.
I am in the process of installing Michelin 1100x16 Xl's on Ol' Blue and am having trouble finding the correct radial tubes and flaps for use with the stock wheels. Based on other threads here I talked to Rusty at International Tire & Tube in TX today and ordered the two short stem tubes and...
I'm not sure if anyone has seen this yet but Sid Beck lost his battle with cancer on Friday, August 27th. The Victoria, TX paper has his obituary up on their website:

The MV world was fortunate to have Sid - he was...
Before everybody starts a big dogpile on Chris (Steelsoldiers) take two seconds and understand that he has more than a full time job and family just like the rest of us. In addition to that they have been in the process of moving recently so yeah the amount of time he can devote to the site...
Truck is looking good! Bonus points for your helpers using the brake drums as stools to supervise your work 8) J Bizal or any of the usual suppliers (AB LInn, Memphis etc.) would have that fitting. I purchased mine from Midwest Military.
We were up at Corolla a few weeks ago for vacation and saw a 404 Unimog and a HMMWV up on the 4x4 beach. The biggest we saw on the beach was an International line truck from Virginia Power 8-)
The funniest was a Toyota Camry buried up to its doors with a beach recovery truck ($$$) working to...
I would encourage everyone who lives in NC to pull out their registration card for their vehicles (mil or not).
As mentioned above a standard NC plate is only a 4k plate. Additionally, NC registration cards now clearly state that you are responsible for not only your vehicle weight but also...
I saw some posts on one of the Power Wagon forums too Nick. I hate to hear it - I have had the pleasure with dealing with Sid on several occasions and Ol' Blue could still use his help. I hope that maybe someone in his area could jump in to assist.
IMO, braking performance isn't near the problem that the engine stall that Chris mentions in his post is. With this series of trucks an engine stall can lead to loss of control real quick. This is the big advantage to the ABS MWO.
FWIW,
Chad
The truck is looking great Bjorn - even if it is a little stuck right now. We you running the personnel heater?
That was a good article in MVM on fuel burning heaters too.

AMEN - just think of the fun we could have if at least the cab and fender tooling (and press parts too) had been saved. Ol' Blue would especially appreciate a new cowl!
