M1009 whines and will not turn over

Also check to make sure flexplate bolts are tight against torque converter. The bolts can loosen over time, especially if lacking starter support bracket.

    CUCV Battery Recommendations

I forget the group sizes.. I have a medium sized equipment battery (came with 2, only this one passed load test) and one standard line rural king car battery in the cucv. Moved larger batt to behind passenger seat because inner fender is soft and back batt bracket had little support. Fender...

source for Mil Spec 14AWG wire

.50 c a foot is not a bad price for that wire, but you may find a better deal per foot on ebay. I know you are looking for mil spec, but sjoow cord is very similar in spec.

Painting the CUCV - paint sources?

I'm unsure of the USN blue color, but I used rustolium satin midnight blue on my k10 and it doesn't look terrible

Unit designation for 1986 M1008 CUCV

My m1009 appears to have FMS1 or possibly PMS1 painted over. Mean anything to anyone? Also had one star sticker where front lic plate goes

    M 1031 duel wheels

If you're not going mil specific you might be ahead IMO to find a DRW 73-87 bed and a dual rear end from a 1 ton

    Balanced sleeve vs standard thermostat

The Robertshaw and the gates have been said to be better units. Robertshaw made some early ac Delco units, they were just rebranded. Sourcing an original ac Delco may be difficult. I have a 180 in my k10 and it has trouble reaching temp on flat ground. If in not mistaken, these engines like a 190.

Seems like this is turning into a build thread.

The little wafer looking wood repair joiners found on repaired pallets work well for wedges

What's up with all of this Ad stuff?

I used opera in its early years, the project had a good intent I felt, but they sold out to Asian interests. I have also used brave on a few rigs but the same issue still applies. Metadata is a key "advertising" option to exploit for big tech.

What's up with all of this Ad stuff?

Ddg is Microsoft owned, and privacy is an illusion.

M1008 crank no start, might be the IP?

That inside of pump lools sketchy. I tried looking for the db2 service/cleaning procedure on dieselplace but couldnt find it. It did involve some type of plunger being able to move freely Also, could it have jumped time? A worn chain can do this and cause similar issues.

    Injector Problem?

Pop testers are cheap online, but its best to get a middle of the road priced unit, or even a vintage domestically produced unit. Read reviews for sure.. If you do need injectors dont fall victim to the "marine grade" option. Db2 pumps can't deliver enough fuel for the HP gain, you'd be fine...

    Injector Problem?

Pull them one by one and pop test them is an option, but time consuming

Correct part number for mechanical lift pump

Any of the mech pump numbers on rockauto will work I eliminated the mech lift pump on my k10 and just use a frame mounted carter electric fuel pump on a toggle switch in the cab. Made a block off plate and removed rod behind it that drives the pump (important if you do away with pump) The...
