I've checked the cap, it went to about 15psi before releasing. Would having the cap off have any bearing on the actual cooling? My understanding is that the pressure only raises the boiling point of the liquid.

Always follow the directional arrow on the sidewall.

Try holding in 2nd gear and see if you can mimic the problem at similar rpm and throttle action.

I'd just do it. As long as both trucks are sharing the (properly secured) load, it shouldn't be a problem. watch the Trans and engine temps... Take pictures.
