    Recent MEP 802A report

This is all excellent information. I'm still waiting to receive my generator from this auction. I've read a lot about people talking about the head gasket. Is there is a good method to determine if it needs to be replaced with out tearing down the engine? Though, it sounds like it might just...

5 Ton Vertical Wall Climb Height?

Well I can say from experience I've done a 4' sand/dirt ledge in my M923A1. The drawing above is very helpful and correct. The easy part is getting the front axles up and over. It gets harder when its the rears. In my case the rear diffs hit the dirt and carved their own trench. Additionally I...

    M1008 cable passthrough

I can easily tell that my M1008 was once a comms truck by the antenna mounts, paint marks, and wear marks in the bed. I assume because of this there is hole that goes through the bed and into the cab right behind where the driver sits. However, some where along the way the hole in the cab has...

    m1009 from hundred dollar man

You should call 100dollar man to confirm, But when I spoke with them several months ago about CUCVs I was told they were getting out of the truck business and didn't have anything available. I have delt with him in the past and service was excellent.

    mortals VS dog bones

I've read various threads where guys have talked about replacing the joints. The procedure looks simple enough. I'm just not sure how much strength and "forceful negotiation" it'll take.

    mortals VS dog bones

I'm the proud owner of a very new M923A1. It had 400 miles on it since it was rebuilt in Maine when I got it off GL. New tires, new paint, newly rebuilt drivetrain, etc. My logic was it should have little to no problems.... Foolish me. Right after I got it I had a dog bone fall off the middle...

    37X12.5X16.5 HUMMER Wheels M1008?

I've been reading as much as I can on M1008's + 37" HMMWV wheel/tire combos. There is one issue that I don't quite understand yet. If you are totally willing to cut up the fenders. can you fit 37's on a M1008 with stock suspension? Or is there still not enough room in the fender wells?

    M923 weird air noise?

I must bow down to the great knowledge of the SS crowd on this problem. Hopefully the collective wisdom can give me a hint. I working through the wonderful joys of trying to register my M923A1. Since I don't have things squared away yet I don't drive it too much, just a little around the 'hood...

    Tiedown ratings

My M923A1 has tie down points on the side of the bed all around. I've seen these before on other vehicles and I know they are commonly referred to as a "nuclear kit" for the Deuce. My question is, what are those tiedown points rated in terms of WLL? The swivel point looks to be the weak link...

    5ton gotcha's in NM?

I had read about the medical requirements for the CDL. I don't think that will be an issue as I currently have the highest FAA health rating for my job. I will continue to do my research and figure out what my approach will be.

    5ton gotcha's in NM?

Martin, I saw your post and have just reread it. The wording in the law you found is kind of similar to the wording in NM. So I will be looking into it to determine whats what. Old Lincon, So how difficult is a CDL to get? Is it similar to when you first get your license... get a study...

    5ton gotcha's in NM?

Thanks for the info so far. What are weight & distance plates? I've never heard about those. In reading the NM laws I saw no mention of brake type, axle count, or truck type as a criteria. Only weight was mentioned. Why was it suggested that because of the Air brakes I would have to have a...

    5ton gotcha's in NM?

I've become afflicted with ... the disease. It started simple enough... bought a deuce from a private seller full filling my boy hood dream of owning a giant military truck. Then I found this site( which is amazing ) and GL. This year brought me getting a M101A2 from GL. Finally, before I could...

    VIC 1 in the M37

which connections were bad? Was it the main connector that was dirty? or was it in your own cabling? My LS671 is certainly surplus along with my cable, I had never considered cleaning the pins of the cable, but perhaps I should. I'm curious on your comments about not hooking up the 'S' pin...

    VIC 1 in the M37

When I was playing around with my LS-671 a while ago I also had a problem with a tone being on both the RX and TX audio. I haven't traced it down as much as I'd like, but I did try putting in isolation transformers and that DID NOT help. I was starting to think that there was something wrong...

    L S-454 to CB?

If you get the right 1/8" jack you can use the stock cord and just cut off the military end and then solder it into the 1/8" jack.

    VIC 1 and ipod etc

What does the other side of that board look like? For sure there is just a variable resistor to set the relative volume. I'm wondering though if there is a transformer as well. The impedance mismatch that was previously mentioned is certainly an issue, but not in the conventional way because...

    VIC 1 and ipod etc

Apple doesn't make a headphone amp, but there are plenty of companies that do. You can quickly find ones that are super expensive and way over the top for your needs. So don't be discouraged when you look at some of the products. The headphone amp will have a volume knob just like everything...
