    Members in Northern Virginia?

Sorry, yes. Microburst tornado came through a few years ago. Dropped a massive tree from my neighbor's yard into mine. I got the tree cut up (gave me an excuse to get a Stihl MS362!) been slowly parting ting the truck out ever since. Sold the axles for $1,500, used the money to buy my F350...

    Members in Northern Virginia?

I'm not in NOVA but this seems to have evolved into a Virginia meet and greet. I I live in Nottoway county, I have been here or Farmville since 1998 when I came to college. After a decade in the workforce I am again a full time student, traveling 70 miles each way every day to Lynchburg. I I...

I accidentally joined a convoy the other day.

This is a pretty funny story. :tank: I also live near a military base, and there are convoys in this area all the time. I dont think you did anything wrong. Stateside convoys are basically just for convenience and accountability. Overseas of course you'd have seen a different response. We...

    Driving through Central America

This sounds like a fantastic trip. Thanks for the great information on traveling in Central America. I've been there some (Honduras, Belize) as well as some of the Caribbean islands, but it's excellent to hear first hand information on how the borders, etc work. Thanks again!

M923A2 trip from Indy to VA

Good to know there's a bunch of folks in SWVA. I live in central VA right now, but after I graduate I am thinking of moving to the Roanoke area. I am in Roanoke about 2-3 times a week. My grandparents have a place just outside of Hillsville, which I gather isn't far from Bjorn/Cranetruck either...

M921A2 Tractor- Recovery in Scottsburg VA, back to Ohio

Where is Scottsburg, VA? By my map, it's showing down near Lake Gaston / Bugg's Island, near South Boston, VA... If so, that's only about an hour or so from me.

    Civilian Interior Install

I got a good look at this truck over the weekend. I was very impressed. Stranger75 has a keen sense for attention to detail. I would recommend saving your money when it comes time for the bed liner and get a Line-X professional job. I've done the DIY kit on my CJ-7 and I have a Line-X in my...

    New M1009 owner in Nashville

'switch your safety-selector switches from semi to auto and post away!' PS- Willie is playing here next week. I'm assigned to patrol instead of the venue but I still plan to drop by and see him. Wish you could come.

    New M1009 owner in Nashville

Awesome! I've been drooling over your Facebook posts waiting to see more pics. My truck has a spin on filter kit so save your money. That big switch likely is a master battery kill switch. Pretty standard in emergency vehicles, especially ones that aren't being used daily, to keep the batteries...

    Front tow pintle

It was done regularly when I was overseas to many of our HMMWVs as a part of a quick damaged-vehicle exfil system. Truck gets hit, or breaks down, someone in the convoy is driving a truck with a tow bar mounted to the rear. They pull up on front of the damaged truck, drop the tow bar lunette...

    Deuce gun rack in cab

Muzzle up or muzzle down in a bird has to do with the location of the fuel tanks. We were taught in Air Assault School which way to point them for which birds, but the only one I remembered was muzzle down in a UH60. That's because that's the bird I used most often since then.

    PTO Disc Brake alternative

I can't ever get the search function to work correctly on the site. I always go to google, it always grabs lots of good SS threads. It's just easier, for me, to do it that way.

    Deuce Buyer's Guide FAQ

Those are very helpful resources, thanks! The one I'm looking at is not at an auction, and I've already been by and previewed it. It looked pretty decent, but I want to take some time and read up on some of the hidden stuff I should look for. I've PMCS'd them before in the Army, I drove one...

    Deuce Buyer's Guide FAQ

Gents, Does anyone have a link to a thread, or any advice on what specifcally to look for when considering a Deuce to buy? I'm trying to piece together a checklist, if you will, of certain things to keep in mind or problem areas to look for to decide if a Deuce is a good buy, or if it's...

    Hose Reel Inside M923 Toolbox

How about plumbing hard lines along the inside of the frame rails, with access ports at the front, rear, and midships? Then you could have a length of hose that you store in the toolbox that you take with you, to which ever port you need to use? Actually, I'm pretty sure I've seen adapters...
