Bought an MEP-805B, started messing with it

Here is a video I took in the daylight. I definitely hope it is in fact normal. If people more experienced than me tell me it's fine, I'll run with it. By the way, the fuel filter was changed last night. I didn't run it much as it was late. So it likely still has some air in it.

Bought an MEP-805B, started messing with it

I apologize for all of my videos being in the dark, I've been so busy lately I don't even get home before dark. But today I will have time to get some startup and shutdown videos. I could be overthinking the vibration thing, but the noise definitely wasn't there before and it has me concerned. I...

    MEP-805B concerning noise

So I have another thread where I'm documenting my "adventure" with my 805B, but this issue came up and I'm concerned enough about it to give it it's own thread. Does anyone have any idea what this noise would be during shutdown and startup? Nothing changed that I can think of that would cause...

Bought an MEP-805B, started messing with it

Ok, so I still had a little bit of "rattling" from the engine every once in a while. The same as in the video in the first post. After I replaced the fuel fittings on the lift pump, it seemed to have helped alot. I replaced the fuel filter just because it was the next thing in line in my head...

3 phase power distribution for field operations

Interested in selling it without the ground rods? PM if so, and we'll see if we can make it worth our while.

3 phase power distribution for field operations

I had no idea those existed! They are cool as heck it looks like, but it looks like they use a specific "proprietary" hookup to go out to the end load. Everything I will need to power will be commercial/consumer style electrical hookups. Perhaps RV style would be the most specific. Unless I'm...

3 phase power distribution for field operations

So I got to thinking, since I'm the proud new owner of a MEP-805B, I need to think of a way to distribute power. I bought it with the intention of being able to power the field operations of an off road search and rescue outfit I volunteer for. For instance, if we get dispatched to a lost hiker...

Bought an MEP-805B, started messing with it

So, I just got the radiator back from the shop this afternoon. I got it installed and just buttoned it up. I'm going to wait until the morning to fill it and pressure test for leaks. My buddy pointed out that the radiator can be removed from the "driver" side of the trailer/unit. After that, any...

    Mep 806B Frequency Drop

Two things: First, is it an 806 or 816? I thought the 806 is a 60hz model and 816 is the 400hz Second, on the control panel, there should be a frequency adjust switch. Does the frequency increase if you hold the switch in the up position?

Interesting standby fuel tank I saw the other day

So I was cruising out in the desert in my 'ol Nissan truck the other day and came across some equipment staged near a pipeline. I saw this fuel tank with a generator hooked up to it and thought "Man that would be cool to have for my 802A". Well, I got home and googled the name and came up with...

Anyone near El Paso, TX feel like pulling a radiator?

So I need to pull the radiator on my 805B and I really, simply don't have the time at the moment. I'm willing to pay for someone to pull it, and then reinstall once it comes back from the shop. Between work, side work and family I just don't have the time or motivation to do it myself. I...

Bought an MEP-805B, started messing with it

Well, brazing didn't work. It's been so long since I've done it, it just didn't come out good looking. It's still leaking and I'm not sure it it's my crappy brazing job or the neck. I think it's time to quit messing with it and pull that rad. I'm going to see about getting someone to do it as...

Bought an MEP-805B, started messing with it

I've soldered them before and have a bunch of silvaloy on hand. So I'll do that tonight and see how it goes.

Outstanding! Thank you for sharing, this may come in handy on my 805B in the future!

Bought an MEP-805B, started messing with it

UPDATE: I went back to my photos from the other day and blew them up on the PC (gotta love high def photos and screens), and it looks like there WAS a very small crack all along. Attached is the photo with what I suspect is the crack circled. It looks like a very small gap with green oxidation...

Bought an MEP-805B, started messing with it

So I got a tailpipe expander and it seemed to do the job really well for the most part. It didn't get it perfect as far as the dents out of it and all that, but it got it back to round. No dice though, still leaks. I took the top off today in preparation to pull the radiator (really thinking...
