The point was a 2% change in length won't affect timing. The IP is still sending pulses of fuel in the correct time. This isn't direct current. It's more akin to alternating current. The fuel that the IP shoots out on a given injection event isn't all going into the engine. It is displacing...
Well put, Rusty.
The only thing I would point out is that the metered fuel you are adding to the line does not have to travel the length of the line. It is only displacing an equal amount of fuel at the far end. However, this is somewhat double edged as the little bit of fuel squirting in one...
This is great info since one of the lines on my m109 is leaking at the HH. I haven't noticed it affecting the performance, but I do have to let the lift pump run a while before cranking if I expect it to start smoothly.
Brian,
Thank you for the detailed post. I have been meaning to search on the FDC topic, I don't mean to step on any toes.
I'll take your maintenance advice to heart. I'm not sure what the brakes are "meant" to feel like on these trucks, but the one I have been driving most seems like it...
I'm not sure if this is strictly related to this post, but one of my trucks has a very audible whine at speed (40+) that the other truck does not exhibit.
Its not as deep as I would expect from the differentials, I'm thinking its in the trans or transfer case.
It is louder under load, and...
As a new owner myself, I can't give you the most exhaustive response.
However, I would recommend as part of the PPI that you take the truck for a test drive. Get it up to speed and listen to it. These are big trucks, so the bad noises are big and loud.
I just picked up a pair and one of them...
You could replace the generator plug on the outside with a standard civi plug and use it for "shore power" when camping or what have you.
If you have the need.
Otherwise you may as well gut the 110 system, unless you are going for authenticity. In which case I wouldn't mind seeing the wiring...
How does bypassing the FDC affect the "multifuel" possibilities? Could I still run WVO or waste engine oil? I'm not real keen on running gasoline anyway, but if you mix enough oil with it, it seems that you can run it even in a standard diesel in an emergency.
Something like this?:

Both my trucks need new weather stripping in the doors. This will definitely come in handy.
They mean the capacity is over a ton, not the gross weight.
A "light duty" truck ends at a "1 ton" rating (actual hauling capacity will vary, but its commonly a "3500" truck.)
Deuces fall into "medium duty" which in many states requires commercial plates.
I had to get weighted commercial...
