in search of info on M534/M62 hydraulic pump setup

in search of info on M543/M62 hydraulic pump setup I am soon to install a large hydraulic pump on my M54A2 using a M543 pto off the transfercase but having difficulty finding photos or drawings of the coupling arrangement used. Looked in all the TMs but seem to be missing the exact pages. If...

    transfercase PTO Hydraulics

OK, understood now but what I am wondering is what I lose by having an open system where the fluid not under pressure recircs back to the reservoir when I am simply driving? I know there will be some temp increase in the oil but if the tank is large the heat should dissipate and the HP lost...

no, I cannot say I do know...please enlighten me

    transfercase PTO Hydraulics

thanks for that info on the pumps. I really don't want one with that spool myself as I plan to run alot more hydraulics off the same pump but do need one that has a relief that will allow the fluid to recirc when I am driving. Either that or I need a pto with a clutch which is also a...

    transfercase PTO Hydraulics

this is what I love about this forum...advice to keep one from making a bone head mistake! anyway, are there not hydraulic pumps that can run continuously and just recirculate the fluid then there is no demand? I know that might require a cooler but I see on eBay what are called "dumptruck"...

    transfercase PTO Hydraulics

aren't large dump truck hyd pumps set up to run on full time power take offs and can recerc the fluid back to the res tank when not needed?

    transfercase PTO Hydraulics

I missed this before and was wondering if I was asking a doofus question but glad to know that there is a neutral position as I really was thinking there must be one. I have acquired a wrecker PTO and next will be to add a big 10+ gpm dumptruck type pump and a 15gal reservoir. Many pics of all...

    transfercase PTO Hydraulics

this could be a doofus question but I want to install a hydraulic pump to a PTO off the back of the transfercase on my M54A2 but since there is no neutral position for the transfercase operation how am I supposed to be able to run anything hydraulic without being in motion? is this not where...

My 923 to 923A1 Spare Tire Conversion

I have a question... To install a sparetire carrier on a 5 ton truck, how much distance is required for the bed to be setback from the back of the cab? I am about to get a bed installed on my M54A2 and want to leave enough room to keep a spare tire behind the cab in the future. Also I need to...

    M35a3 with truck camper

since these are Multifuel engines would putting a quart of clean lube oil in a tank of ultralow sulfur fuel help that issue any? just wondering?

    deuce to half track conversion?

Now I am wondering if this idea wouldn't work for my M54 since I have that mega V plow for it and might get work doing private non county maintained road clearing during the winter. I really hate having to chain up. Not to change the subject but how do G177's do in deep snow assuming a couple...

    deuce to half track conversion?

Found these images of a model M3 showing the arrangement of the rear axle & suspension It certainly would be a very substantial project and one which would earn its owner many bragging rights here once done and running. The photo chronicle of the conversion would make for a very interesting...

    deuce to half track conversion?

so a M2/M3 rear drive would be just about right for use with a Rockwell front axle for a deuce. 6.72:1 for existing axle and 6.8:1 for WWII. 672 shaft revs per 100 wheel revs vs. 680 shaft revs per 100 axle. If fact the 4.9:1 Ouverson gears are not too far away from the 4.44:1 WWII gears so...

    deuce to half track conversion?

does anyone know what the front and rear axle ratios were on WWII half tracks? I would think that would give a good idea of the spread needed as long as the proportion of drive sprocket to front tire circumferences were about the same? anyway, I don't plan to every try doing this but just...

    deuce to half track conversion?

I see know what is being said. So one would need a different rear axle with a higher ratio than the front. Of course, a person could also eliminate the propellershaft to the front axle but that would be no fun

    deuce to half track conversion?

There wouldn't be any issue though if one used an existing Rockwell axle to drive the tracks even if one found a set of bogies and idler wheel from an old M2 or M3. I will look up how the rear drive axle was mounted to the frame on a WWII vintage half track but believe the same set up would be...

    deuce to half track conversion?

Gawd how I HATE the Army's new trucks! Why did we have to Eurofy our forces? What garbage!

    deuce to half track conversion?

Here's another attempt at a photoshopped conceptual interpretation that I think is a bit more in proper proportion if you were really good a fabricating work, I think you could reuse much of the original rear suspension to support the bogies.
