I got the pics of the dropside bed that is close to me...it is definitely not close to the same condition as the one in Montana. Right now he wants $1000 for this bed here and the one in Montana would be $1200 delivered to WA State. I think I am going with the Montana one.
btw, as one can...
well, I hope it is only a master cylinder without enough fluid but if that is the case then it does have to be leaking out somewhere otherwise a bad MC I guess? No way to know until I get back up to the truck in August. I think I'll order a rebuild kit for the MC in the meantime.
Sorry for the newb type question but I have an option to buy an almost mint 14' bed for my M54 from an M923 with full canvas for $500 however I have to spend $700 to have it shipped from Montana or I can buy a M809 series bed with dropsides locally but without canvas and not in as good of...
Sorry to ask what might be a neophyte question, but with an air assisted hydraulic system such as in my M54 if the truck sits and is not running will the brake pedal be stiff or soft? Right now I have not even had the chance to get my truck started (because I am working out of town this past...
I am definitely going to shelve any ideas of turning my M54 into a tractor. Sounds like the work to do it would be much more that I would want to do with not the results one would want. Just need to find me a bed for mine (hint...hint)
sound like it would be better for me to just get a tractor all ready to go. There was an M52 in Eastern Washington on eBay recently for a good price but he wasn't interested in a trade so I would have to sell mine first. Besides, I don't know much about this lowbow trailer other than it is...
ok, got it. I guess the entire brake distribution block is completely different to run trailer brakes and would have to be replaced? I'll look in the TM manuals to see what I find.
My biggest question though really is the mounting of the fifth wheel hitch assembly on an M52 tractor vs. the...
Where is this going to take place? Right now Pierce County if out of range for me (at least with the M54) but I will certainly like to try to get to some of the other meetups this year.
other than finding a fifth wheel hitch and running airbrakes and power to the trailer, is there anything else to do to use a standard 206"wb chassis as a tractor? I might have a line on a 30ton lowboy trailer near where I live which I think my M54 might pair up to very nicely.
Thought I'd toss my M54A2 into the thread...just acquired from a rural fire department in Sumas, WA. Has a very large V plow set up for the front which I got with the truck but not the water tank.
Immediate plan is to replace all the old NDT tires with a set of new G177's I found locally at...
just got myself a sweet M54A2 from a rural fire department in Sumas, WA. A really great condition winch model all original except missing bed and rigged for a front plow (which I get to keep!) Now to relocate the truck from its present location to Sedro Woolley in mid July, replace the old NDT...
the M54A2 I am getting is set up for some form of plow off the front and I am curious if anyone has seen any other MVs (especially 5ton trucks) with similar setups and would love to see photos of those if any are available.
While I doubt I will leave the yoke and cylinder...
Hope this is not a "new guy" stoopid question, but I have an M54A2 with no bed and am wondering when I go looking for one if I can be able to consider beds from other later 5 ton trucks and if so, what mods might be needed to install them?
It's a bloody shame it doesn't come with the plow it used to have or the tank/bed. I expect this was a wildland truck but have to wonder how it was configured? Was the pump PTO driven or a separate engine? How big was the tank(s)? Was it converted by a specialty company or by the Department...
new member just jumping aboard with M54A2 purchased yesterday from GSA
very ironically, I am out of town working at the moment and not due back to the NW till next week so bought truck sight unseen but GSA stated running condition with 4127mi. Without seeing truck in person I have no idea if...
