    Engine temperature scan

Also, many people think that the temperature is measured exactly at the laser spot. In reality, those IR guns have a quite large spot in which they measure the average surface temperature. In cheap guns, the diameter of that spot can be 1:5 of the distance (say, you point the gun from 20 inches...

    M997 generator help

That´s true for sure. By the way: I never found pics or anything about the very resucitators used on an M997. Does anybody have more information about them ? Maybe NSNs or a manufacturer or type ? Would be more useless ballast, but I like genuine, but useless stuff.....

    M997 generator help

I think even early M997s had a 200 A generator, but the old one with the piggyback regulator, and only 24 volts voltage. But that´s also from memory..... ;-) However, about a year ago, I was at the same point, having to find the correct alternator, and a local dealer (Studentdriver) had both...

New guy with a slant back question

Most slantbacks coming from Govplanet today have a sheet metal cover instead of the turret. Mine was siliconed in, so that was waterproof. Still some leaks at the doors. If you don´t need that 100 % original turret, maybe such a fixed cover would be a solution for you. For me, I wanted that...

    BAMBULANCE progress

Wow, you´re great help, Wirefox. I didn´t have MacMotors on my radar when searching. Bummer I just had an order shipped from HPG. But I´ll ask them. Thanks very much, Wirefox !

    BAMBULANCE progress

Funny coincidence, my litter rack access door is there, but it is missing it´s lock..... And I haven´t found a replacement yet. But that´s very interesting to hear that you lifted the body by those lifting bolts. How much weighs an M996 body ? The bolts themselves should be sturdy enough; I...

    BAMBULANCE progress

Now that´s a familiar sight ! I also dragged my ambulance top home on a trailer.... ;-) For lifting: There are four bolt points at the top sides where eyelets could be put in, but I seriously doubt that they will carry the 2,000 pounds of the top. The eyelets were intended to hold straps that...

    M998 Xdoor Bullet Resistant Glass

X-Doors, even in the "supplemental armor" version with a flat plate on them, were not intended to stop bullets. They were only intended to help against artillery fragments. The specs for "basic armor" demanded that the vehicle be resistant to projectiles of 17 grains weight, and for...

    My new M998

Hola Beehumvee, great to see that you finally found your vehicle ! Congratulations ! Looks really nice. The vehicle seems to have had armour at some time in its life, judging from the large screws in the footwell. It also has an armoured grille on the hood. Would be interesting to learn about...

    Hmmwv history/use?

Hej Jens, welcome to the madness ! We have the same problem with yellow turn signals in Germany. Many people here use the wire for the blackout brake lights for the service brake, and that frees 22-460 and 22-461 for pure turn signal use. This way, you don´t have to put in new wires. And most...

Battery disconnect switch that fits? M998

I tested the alternator 12V lead (68 ) and the one running to the TCM (290/291/537) seperately. The one coming from the alternator showed 0.00 milliamps (and infinite ohms), the one going to the TCM had 2.97-3.00 milliamps. But anyway, you´re right, such a small current is negligible.

Battery disconnect switch that fits? M998

First, thanks to Milcommoguy for the heads-up on this. I just got my first A2 vehicle, and was just about to throw in a simple disconnect-ground-switch. That´s definitely not enough. I was glad I found this here just in time. However, I´ve been thinking long and hard about this, and I wondered...

    Regarding export a humvee

I second RWH. There are several dealers here in Germany selling road-legal HMMWVs with a clear paper trail, and there are also dealers in the UK, France and Italy. I´m sure there are dealers in Spain, too. Make sure they have an export permit for the exact vehicle you´re buying. Sometimes...

    HMMWV Export Question

I didn´t do an export to Germany myself so far, but I heard from several germans who did. Even if you bought that truck without an EUC, it still falls under ITAR, so trying to export it without an export permit might get you into some serious trouble. Getting an export permit doesn´t seem to be...

WTK - Do these have any value?

Sorry to chime in here, but those parts are all brackets from a TOW carrier. I´m currently restoring one, so I know those parts. The top bracket holds the TOW day sight, the two smaller ones are brackets for the night sight battery, the long black part on the left is a bracket for the TOW...

    Electric Hummer ?

Well, the exterior design looks more like a Landrover. But that mid-gate feature for extra-long cargo is really nifty.

    Heater and A/C control box

You´re right, that´s a Humvee part. It is the climate control unit from an M997 Ambulance. Sits in the litter compartment on the right hand bulkhead.

    Looking for german fellows

Hi, I´m not sure if using a copy of german papers will still work. It used to, but in recent years, you always hear that the people at the TUV want a "Typengutachten" in original, not a copy. Which is not really a problem for M998 vehicles; you get them from TUV Sued (for a fee, of course). More...

    At last she is arrived.

Congratulations to that very nice truck, HUNvee ! Always interesting how people in other European countries are managing to get Humvees.

    Lifting a humvee body

Sorry if this has come up before, but I think I´ve read all the threads on the topic of lifting the body, and I didn´t find my point: Do you guys have a rough estimate how much a Humvee body weighs when completely stripped of everything (seats, pillars, etc.) ? I need to lift a body in another...
