Looking for Manual on Bearings TM 9-214

Does anyone have a digital copy of TM 9-214, Inspection, Care, and Maintenance of Antifriction Bearings? I am working on a number of different vehicle projects and would like to have a standard to go by to determine the condition of bearings.

    Transfer Case Locked Up

Thanks for the advice, SouthDave. I locked the hubs, engaged front-wheel drive, put it in low range, reverse, and gave it throttle as I eased the clutch out. After a slight jerk it backed up perfectly. I put it in 1st and it pulled forward as well. I drove it around the block, but it is...

    Transfer Case Locked Up

I have not tried anything like that. I was afraid of really breaking something, but I guess if the transfer case is a total loss then it might not hurt. I am going to try to check for metal pieces in the fluid. Down here the people call themselves Mennonite not Amish. They are all over the...

    Transfer Case Locked Up

The brakes are fine. I towed the truck for about 8 miles with the drive shaft removed and the 2 rear axles roll freely. I checked the emergency brake and it is clear. I did not attempt to use the front axle for the same reason that Mudguppy gave.

    Transfer Case Locked Up

The transfer case powers both the front and rear wheels. Pressurized air is run to the air cylinder on the front output of the transfer case to engage/disengage the front drive shaft. I have the front-wheel drive lever in the "out" position so the front drive shaft spins freely. The rear...

    Transfer Case Locked Up

Make sure there is air getting to which component? I was not aware that air-pressure affected anything other than the front air-shift assembly.

    Transfer Case Locked Up

The transfer case output to the rear wheels will not turn in neutral or high/low ranges.

    Transfer Case Locked Up

Everything is clear around the emergency brake drum. I figure something is broken internally, but I don't know what. I thought someone might have had a similar issue and have a good idea of what is broken. The big question is should I tear it apart and try to replace an individual piece or...

    Transfer Case Locked Up

The other day I was accelerating up a hill in third gear and as I shifted into 4th the 2 rear axles stopped turning. The truck would move forward or backwards a few feet, but something internally jams and it stops. I put the transmission and transfer case in neutral and the engine runs fine...

    Fuel Mileage?

My deuce gets: 6mpg on crude oil, 8mpg on kerosene, and approx. 10mpg on diesel. That's without cargo cover, and almost unladen. The truck has lockout hubs, and the fuel density compensator has been bypassed.

    Deuce Radiator Expansion

I pulled my radiator about a year ago and had it cleaned and all the broken brackets brazed back on. Since then the level has stayed about half way up the elbow in the bottom of the filler neck. It has not been spitting out at all. I almost never add any fluid to it.

    Lockout hubs

I have the Ouverson lockout hubs and for me it is almost more a matter of maneuverability. I drive my M35 around town here in Belize all the time. The streets were built in 1949 when all the highways in the country were dirt. Without them it would be much more difficult to navigate these streets.

    10 bolt hubs for Deuce

I had major issues trying to find 20" 10-lug split rims in Belize. I don't know about other Central American countries but standard tubeless rims in normal semi-truck sizes is about all that can usually be found here. Definitely have 2 spares! I have blown both front tires at once. At least...

    NC Registration

A couple of years ago I had my M35 registered in North Carolina. I had bought it out-of-state from an individual who had a private vehicle title for it. I called GEICO who I had my other vehicles insured with and they insured it. The guy was totally clueless. I described it accurately and...

Loading the 5th wheel for traction

I have considered converting my M35 into a tractor and have pondered the same thing. It would be awesome to have the versatility of a tractor and yet still be able to mount a shortened cargo bed on it. For the trips to the beach, canoeing, etc.

    Rebuilt Air Pack Malfunctioning!

I read that thread among others and was very careful to put the seals in the correct way. When I took it apart the second time last night I rechecked everything. I figured that would be the most likely culprit. When I took it apart the second time there was brake fluid in all areas of the air...

    Rebuilt Air Pack Malfunctioning!

I rebuilt the air pack in my Deuce and after putting it back in, brake fluid pours out the slobber tube by the air filter. When manually bleeding the brakes with no air pressure, the fluid level rises in the tube as you bleed and will start flowing out after a few minutes of bleeding the...

Brake Fluid Flowing out Vent Tube

I have removed the vent line from the master cylinder and installed a plug where it tees into the vent from the air pack. The vent line from the air pack is filling with fluid and when the pedal is pressed the vent line is being pressurized. The problem has to be in the air pack.

Brake Fluid Flowing out Vent Tube

With the truck running if I press the brake pedal brake fluid sprays all over the cab, hood, ground, etc. Somehow the vent line is pressurized. I must have made a mistake somewhere in the air pack rebuild. Any ideas as to what I did wrong? I really hate to remove the air pack and...
