    HMMWV Crank No Start

As long as it's not ridiculously cold out, the block heater should make up for bad glow plugs and allow you to start in my experience. White smoke, so looks like you're getting fuel.

How to bypass PCB? I am aware some HMMWV owners have done it. TOBASH

No problem. I had noticed there were no threads detailing this so I made one. I do have to finish it though.

Difference between M988 and the M998A1

Tracks. "The M981 FISTV (Fire Support Team Vehicle) is a United States Army armored vehicle designed to house an artillery observer team in mechanized units. It was based on the M901 Improved TOW Vehicle (ITV) - itself based on the ubiquitous M113 Armored Personnel Carrier chassis - and...

    Soft Top Vs Hard Top

Please let us know how the iron curtain goes for you. Premium one? Have not heard any reviews. You're in Chicago, seems to me you might need armor too. We need another enterprising individual with more skill and time than myself to start producing slant back kits for a profit, undercut the...

I personally am missing those. Am I incorrect in assuming they are shorter than the more common outside ones?

Glow plugs burning out, even with manual controller

Not sure, but when I bought it from a guy I knew who had not had it very long from auction (he titled it here in CA, saved me a headache), he had purchased a new temp sensor so I dropped it in, no change. I would consider myself to be one of those people that want to keep the vehicle as close...

Glow plugs burning out, even with manual controller

Just wanted to give you some of my own experiences. So I built a manual glow plug controller, running a secondary HMMWV glow plug harness due to my plugs getting fried. The box was putting 24v constant through the factory harness killing the plugs, otherwise the box was working fine with 8...

    DIY Tire Balancing

Another vote for Centramatic. I've been using these for six months. Vibration was really annoying before, but these solve the problem. You can just swap on new wheels and tires and don't have to worry about balancing. Worth the price.

Thanks, I had looked at that. What's your plan now to install a front winch?

    Another “Hard to Start” Thread

Congratulations on your purchase! So with the existing control box does the vehicle run well once you get through the startup? Any other issues? Like you, I was having issues starting because my ESS was sending 23v constant to my glow plugs If it does run well, I'd suggest breaking the...

    Humvees under 15,000

Daily driver, only vehicle currently. 4 days a week 25 miles a day, 2 days a week 70 miles a day. Has been 32 in the morning occasionally, 105 in the afternoons also. All good here. (besides slow, loud, and hot ;)

starter motor running in run position

Had an aftermarket keyed one go bad on me too. You know because when you turn it to on it will bump the starter. Give it a week more and when you do the same it immediately starts cranking in the run position. Don't make them like they used to ;)

    Manual Glow Plug Control Instructions

There are 2, but absolutely not mandatory. 1. Isolate the plugs away from the potential problem that fried them to begin with. Remember, we still want to keep the box in as the others have said. 2. Not messing with the factory harness. It's a good idea to keep the humvee as original as...

    Manual Glow Plug Control Instructions

Exactly why I went the route I did. Did you check that the plug connectors weren't getting 24v constantly before you tied in to the harness? Mine were, that's why I went the separate harness route. The glow plugs fry because they can't be on for prolonged periods of time.
