    CA title

See above. This is unfortunately incorrect. The chp is actively removing road legal registration and reissuing off road only titles. I personally have had enough of the authoritarianism and high taxes, and am removing myself and my family from the state tax base. California itself is a...

    CA title

Is possible. Mine was. Not anymore. California does not like them. Montana does 😉

    Run flat question

Can't argue with that logic. As a firefighter, I've seen it burn. Trick is to not have the truck catch fire ;)

    Run flat question

You could always go with the magnesium ones instead of the rubber. I did.

    California Road Legal Title Crack-Down

Ajax MD : Thanks for the heads up. TMOMW: Will do.

    California Road Legal Title Crack-Down

Thanks, appreciated. I could say I'm surprised but this is California. Hopefully for everyone else's sake I am the outlier, not the standard.

    California Road Legal Title Crack-Down

That's right. When you have a vehicle that doesn't have a vin number, or one that has less than 17 digits as of now, you take it to the highway patrol and they inspect it. They make sure it meets all of the road requirements, such as lighting/bumpers/seat belts etc. If it meets all of the...

    California Road Legal Title Crack-Down

California is now cracking down on Hmmwv's. On road title that was obtained legally with a blue California vin tag that has been good for the past couple years flagged (no reason presented). Only option given is to accept OHV title. I spoke with a vin officer I know, he indicated that...

    steering binding

Here's a left field: Noticed binding and a little noise from my pump a while ago. Checked fluid, looked good. No leaks. Potential air in system? Bled it using the manual standard, didn't fix it. Dug a little deeper, and what do you know, the cheap cast alternator bracket to the power steering...

    HMMWV Rock Sliders/ Rocker protection

Just installed some today from jeremy51307 on the bay. Was $465 shipped, now going for $500 even. Can't argue with that price. Installed fine, I painted them beforehand to match the body. We'll see how they hold up.

    Indianapolis HMMWV Project

I would be interested to see what components you replaced on the board. Installed a manual setup to get around this, works perfectly but if the unit is fixable then I might as well fix it.

    Rear Bumper

Looks like a predator.inc search and rescue rear bumper, except less fancy (and a lot less $$$)

    hard start

Check that the glow plug harness connection to the plugs is not feeding 24v constant when the ignition switch is in the run position. It can do this even if your wait to start light is cycling normally. If it is, that's your "smart" box. Workaround is to put in a manual glow plug controller...

    Lighting system.

    Agreed. Leds work great w/24v.

Added some 3.5" flood lights for the front and also in the rear as backup lights

Once you fire that led bar up and see the results, I am going to follow suit. I have the same brush guard as both of you, was thinking about putting a smaller led bar on the bottom of it to light up lower (same thing as the bumper lights are doing) and throwing some cubes on the windshield hinge...

    My new 1993 HMMWV 998

Thanks. Yup, backup camera was a necessity with Bulldogger's soft slantback, he put a solid panel in for me instead of a window (running a spare tire mount, blocked the view anyway). I used this kit, just painted it carc green to blend in and riveted it to the doghouse cover...

    My new 1993 HMMWV 998

Good choice on the tach, just put mine in. Very nice to know what the revs are. I'm seeing 2850 or so at 55mph. I used the block heater plenty when the glow plugs went south, starts up instantly.

Like it! And good job on the antenna mount lights, great idea! I've been thinking about how to set some light on my front end because that option is no longer available due to the winch. How's the light you put on your hood Joe, and any pics of it working?
