Wow $300 for one!! Good to know at least they are still available. I think I'll try everything else first but thanks sharecropper, don't know how I missed that thread.
Hello SS,
Has anyone found a place that sells new or new old stock part that has the swivel stud attached to the glass? LMC sells every part but that and my go-to junkyard was shut down long ago. I haven't pulled it off the truck yet but for anyone who has is it possible to maybe drill out the...
Outside of a junkyard anyone know where to find the whole window assembly? Not the locking mechanism but mainly the part with the bottom swivel hinge as mine rusted and broke like edpdx mentioned. LMC sells every piece BUT that one and all the good local yards have been shutdown.
Not sure about how well the pressurizing works exactly or if its effective. Without the lift pump on mine its a little different. Any diesel shop. There's an International shop in my area that will rebuild. When you pull it apart check the return check valve. Debris in the valve can indicate a...
I used bolts and a big washer too except I combined a metal and a neoprene washer. It wont leak and i can remove it later as I plan to run a solar panel up to the roof. At that point there will be a plastic electrical box covering it.
Good to see another Chicagoan on here! Your not out in the west burbs by any chance are you?
Had a similar hard starting problem but didn't have any visible drip. Had several people recommend pressurizing the fuel tank with an air line to try and force the leak to show itself but never tried...
I thought I remember reading that those rotary vanes were upgraded in the 1986 m1009 injector pumps and weren't prone to breaking as in previous years.
thanks
JDEMARIS, I removed all the gps before testing compression and when i went to test the cylinder in question (second from the front on the passenger side) I noticed there was something jammed in the threads AFTER i had just removed the existing glow plug. I guess just turning the engine over...
I did a compression check and all cylinders were between 425 and 475. However i did find an old broken element from a former gp in one of the combustion chambers. No idea how long thats been in there but removing it did'nt seem to eliminate the smoking. I'm going to go through the entire auto...
I have a 800 watt continuous inverter by cobra. Its modified sine but that works for me. I hooked it up to a deep cycle battery I added in the back which is charged by two 30 watt microcrystalline flexible solar panels. Just another option which could likely work well in Texas. Whole rig cost me...
In addition to the oil being black its also low about 3/8 quart for no apparent reason. Maybe I'm burning oil? Hard to tell by the smell as I'm not a diesel man. Theres a little bit of what appears to be oil by the starter housing and the dust cover next to it.
Thanks
OK I cleaned the return valve. Wasnt even dirty really. Im still getting the same result. A virtual london fog. Any other ideas? Should i look into the IP?
Thanks
Hello,
My 1009 has been starting rough for a while now. It starts but never on the first, second, or third time cranking. Also it's begun to smoke heavily both while cranking and after start. This kind of came on gradually. Bought it in November and it was'nt doing that. It tends to get worse...
