From all the research I did with the nsn online, I am pretty sure I have the correct dimensions. The only way to guarantee it is to find a similar truck with this setup and double check it. The only thing that was different was the offset. I had a machine shop mill that down until I got a...
Yes, I had to make a new bracket for the bolt on the top. And I had to use a chainsaw file to enlarge the holes on the two large terminal connectors to make them fit the larger lugs.
Yes, I did find one. It was a really hard, but I ended up with one that had the same shaft diameter and close to the same outside diameter, but I had to machine it a little to get the alignment right. It was a .875 shaft and I believe a 3.75 outside diameter. Couldn't find an exact match anywhere.
Also, I checked the thermal switch and it has already been bypassed at the starter. So I will start at the start button and work my way back. And a half a roll of electrical tape later, the buzzer is now tolerable, so I will be able to hear relays clicking.
I got it to crank today by jumping the solenoid on the frame. It was pretty cold (15℉), and it looks like the water separator filter is leaking, so, no start. I am going to replace the water separator and try bleeding the injectors. I am guessing it's not as easy as my m939a2 was. I will try...
Yes suprman, I did have another thread about mystery wires under the dash. I have to go on and update it. I did find where they go. Plug J210 was for the winch that I don't have, and plug J108 is for a dump bed that I don't have.
A lot of fuses and relays were missing, and I spent a lot of time...
So I picked up a 98 m1088 tractor and it had a ton of parts missing. I'm pretty sure I have everything replaced, but the starter will not even click. Any advice on where to look first? This thing is a LOT different than my last m931a2!
I recently bought an M1088 fmtv tractor truck, and the alternator was missing. I found an alternator, but it did not come with a pulley! it is the 200 amp dual voltage niehoff upgraded alternator. I need the 2 grove pulley with the .875 bore. not sure what the outside diameter is supposed to be...
I am in the process of trying to replace this seal also. I was able to get it out with a slide hammer, but can't get the new one in. There is a huge lip (about 1/8 inch) that the old one had to get over coming out. Doesn't seem right. Worried about messing up the new one.
Does anybody know who makes the steering gear for the M931 A2? I am looking for a rebuild kit or a replacement, and none of the truck shops can figure it out? It is leaking real bad. Need help!
