Hey y'all! Swapping a Chevy 230 inline 6 for the Tornado (sorry purists,I tried to keep it). I got a swap kit from Novak and asked, along with my mechanic, for EVERYTHING we would need. Paid 1300 and was told it had a clutch kit....it DID NOT...so I figured out that I needed the 11" Chevy clutch...
Just didn't wanna fool with the wiring. All the lights function as they should and I want to keep it as original as possible. Can get a GM 24 volt starter that'll bolt right up to the Novak bellhousing. Now my only problem is the distributor. Is there a way to get the distributor over to 24 volt?
Good afternoon... I'm (regretfully) having to swap out my Tornado and putting in a Chevy inline 6...I would rather stay 24v because all my lights function as they should....can I run a 24v alternator in place of the 24v generator? The alternator will bolt right up and I'm getting a 24v starter...
Yes it's the mechanical. As I noted I just got it rebuilt by Willis America out in California for $384...the carb is the original 1920 Holley single barrel. The needle and seat is changed out. The float is the original black material and it seems to push on the needle like it's supposed to. It...
Hey y'all...gotta 67 M715 still with the original Tornado...just paid Willis America to rebuild the vacuum/fuel pump and I cleaned the Holley one barrel...but it is flooding badly...I checked the float and the vacuum slide behind the float and both seem to work fine. Anything I'm missing? I've...
That's exactly what I'm hoping...my Grandpa had a 67 Chevy 10 with the 10 bolt rear and the 292....I can remember the torque...seemed it could've been a house mover
I'm going with a swap kit from Novak so I can stay with the stock tranny...the stove stovebolts have the same bellhousing bolt pattern as the small block Chevy with a decent bump in horses and torque....AND I CAN TRUST IT LOL
Yeah you're right...first time I let off the clutch it black marked my concrete driveway.....and that's just the Tornado (should've called it a Dust Devil) I'd hate to see what a big block Chevy would do the way it's geared....that's why I had in mind the Stovebolt...give it a bit more horses...
FYI for everyone...I will be selling the Tornado after the swap....it ran great with no rattles and no heat...and believe it or not, no leaks... I haven't had the truck but a month. The former owner was a Vietnam Vet and said he was tired of putting money in her...the fuel pump went out (vacuum...
