I dont have any special equipment to do this job.
1.I used soapy water to get the bottom half of the tire to seat on the dish side of the rim as best as I could with the tire face down.
(UPDATE:I will never use soapy water again...
The material is water soluble and seems to "dissolve" easily when smeared with water. Even with no soap I could wash it off my hands with some effort.
When I have the next tire apart I will take a little and put it in a glass jar and do an antifreeze test to see if there is anything I should be...
First tire assembled. The alignment of the valve stem in the run flat was a bit of a challenge to get perfect (Yes it is perfect :)) but by far the hardest thing was to get the deep dish side of the rim to start slipping into the run flat. Fought that for a while. I have not aired the tire up...
I finished mounting last night my first HEMTT rim with a 16.00 XZL along with the Hutchinson run flat. I was a bit worried as the rim width seemed to measure just over 10" inches of width and the tire with the run flat width seemed to be about 10.5". So there is absolutely some positive...
I have a set of MRAP tires with solid rubber run flats. I am moving the tires and run flats over to some HEMTT rims and when I went to clean out the tire of any water or debri that may have made its way in i found the tire coatedwith a tar gooy substance that I am guessing is this RF "grease"...
Making some progress on tires. Dismounted 6 of the 8 MRAP 16.00s with their run-flats a couple weeks back. Started today on getting the tires one at a time off my BOT and dismounting the tires using a high lift. Was a pain as it didn't apply direct downward pressure to help the bead slip...
THX All for the pointers. First one is OFF. After begging here for help I went back out and rotated the tire 90 degrees and jacked it again, rotated 90 again, then 90 and again. Jacking at each spot and it finally came loose.
I am cleaning up the rim, changing the valve stem (Thanks to KEN for...
Hello Alll
Busting into my first HEMTT tire disassembly . I have separated the two halves of the rim and peeked inside and do not see a bead lock inside. I have been trying to break the bead off but haven't been able to get the tire to slip off the upper rim half. Is there any easier way to do...
That is exactly what I am looking for Simple, Effective, Visual Deterrent and I don't need to worry about leaving it behind, or welding to the tank. Thanks everyone for the great idea.
Thanks for the reply. Could you someday take a pic and let me see what it looks like? In looking at the take caps the 900 series look a bit different than my 809 series but eventually I will be adding a second large tank to my passenger side and I don't care if it is from an 809 or 900 series...
Looking to purchase a used Detroit 5Ton locker out of a 900 series for my M813. The locker has a single half broken tooth. Still good to buy? I dont see any other damage to the adjacent teeth. From the exploded view it appears the collar shares the load with all the teeth simotaniously and...
At the point I bought this I didn't know anyone out of state but 71DeuceAK here on SS. He tipped me off about the M813 being for sale and for that favor I routed my drive cross country at who knows how many miles added to make sure I stopped by his place to give a personal thank you.
Since purchasing the BOT I have been considering all my options on what is most important to upgrade. My list is currently as follows. You don't have to read all this.... Mostly just my thoughts... cliff notes :TIRES, TRACTION, WINCH, POWER, SAFETY,
1. Get new tires mounted. This will require...
Put the BOT into the Veterans Alliance 6th Annual Car Show and won the Veterans Alliance Choice award! All those nice classic rides and the MV takes top honors! I felt very proud to donate the the cause. Held at the Wheeler Farm Historic Site in Murray UT.
After an excellent dinner I started the process of busting my new 16.00s off the MRAP rims. Have 6 to go. I am crossing my fingers that my HEMTT rims will work with these run flats. I want to be running beads or anti-freeze in these babies so I don't have the BUNNIES that seem to live in the...
With exhaust connections It appears these sections are 5" and are a "standard" off the shelf S sweep and 90 degree sweep. This is a muffler delete. Any input on how the exhaust side is done here? Is it better to use a flexible section to remove vibration stress from the turbo/exhaust...
Your comment: "Turbo also looks to be from N14"... Does this N14 turbo have a part #? Or model name? as either would help. From what I understanding from the above comments is the N14 "stock" turbo has a quicker spool when used with the N14 smaller port manifold, which I presume will help...
