As I’m pondering the problem. I put the rebuilt #2 alt in a couple of days before Thanksgiving (Tuesday), then changed the starter (Sunday) noticed this light situation yesterday. Starter was a pretty straight forward out with old/in with new. I most likely didn’t rev the motor and definitely...
I minimized the winking of the light by loosing the belt until it was not charging and then tightening just enough to get it working. At this point I’m not 100% sure if it’s a problem or my ocd….
Both alternators rebuilt
When engine is revved or even driven at 55mph the #2 alternator idiot light flashes
Gauge good
gauge on battery good -I had someone watch it while it revved/made the light flash
First time it happened I tighten the belt, second time tighten it a little more.
Upon turn...
I was looking at that exact one - kinda pricey for my “truck budget”, but I’ll probable get it. Have you had a chance to hook yours up? I would love a real world review before I spend the $’s.
I just tested with my Harbor Freight battery load tester. The #1 was rebuilt 3-4 months ago, #2 rebuilt 2-3 days ago. The number one seems to move the needle after the truck has been running for a while. Hopefully unrelated (but I didn’t think to notice the timing), I did get the high idle/ip...
No, I’m going to get the original rebuilt - but wanted it running. I used this same alternator when I had #1 rebuilt. I’m going to do the same thing with the starter. I’ll install an after market starter while I get the original rebuilt. I prefer rebuilt originals.
Thanks - still 24v. I must have attached the wires correctly. All was working well after I installed the new alternator. I’ll get the original rebuilt and reinstalled.
What is this - this alternator doesn’t have a ground to the case. Does this replace the ground? I’m putting in an aftermarket until tomorrow get this one rebuilt - should I run a ground wire?
