    Catastrophic tire failures?

I seem to remember a series of discussions about these XL issues some years back. Should be readily available via Search. I’m fairly certain there’s a difference in sidewall & casing construction of the XLs vs the XZLs; if you look at XL sidewalls, they are wavy-looking whereas with the XZLs...

    HMMWV Insurance help please

Once you get the insurance squared away, be prepared for a battle with NV DMV...they don’t like to register HMMWVs and I know several Vegas locals who are still fighting with NV DMV to register their HMMWVs with ON-road legal titles. They’re probably going to tell you that yours can only be...

    Transmission drain plug

Your leak is coming from either your rear main seal or your transmission input shaft seal, it just drains out of this hole. Don’t worry about the plug, leave it be unless you’re fording deep water.

    Air Leak bypass

Sounds like the PPV (Pressure Protection Valve), lots of threads on here about it. I’d start by replacing that and then servicing (or swapping) the Air Dryer.

    MRAP Brakes

International MaxxPro... looks like First Gen with solid axles & single rear wheels

Oil pooling in air filter housing

On my A2 truck, this was happening due to rusted air piston on the transfer case...IIRC, the air piston at top rear of transfer case was rusted to the point of preventing it from engaging, once rebuilt with rust-free components, it worked & shifted fine and I haven’t had any more oil in my air...

Where did all the big trucks go?

It was within the past 10 years and had to do with all the Army HMMWVs being released for auction, but with Off-Road Only titles. AM-General claimed that the terms of the HMMWV contract forbade the sale of them when the military was finished with them, and the ability of some owners to obtain...

    Head lights not working

Perfect opportunity for that young man to learn how to use a multimeter & learn how to read a wiring schematic! First things first, with a vehicle as old as these are getting, start with the basics: visually & physically inspect wires & connections...assume nothing, verify that each connector...

    FMTV vs International Navistar Family

The Navistar MaxxPro line was mostly armored cabs & aimed at export market. And it’s telling that Oshkosh’s MTVR line is the favored choice over FMTV at least for Navy & Marine Corps

Saw this on the back of a flat deck in Regina Sask.

Nice! So basically a Renault with Mack badging?

Yet another engine oil and diesel fuel thread

Stanadyne makes a great fuel additive for lubricity, I saw some in a farm & ranch store the other day so it’s becoming easier to find. Amsoil makes a retro motor oil for older diesels with added Zinc and other bases...haven’t tried any yet but am about to order some

    M35A2 power steering options?

Plus the steel MRAP wheels with run-flats weigh over 500-lbs EACH, that’s more than 3,000-lbs just wheels/tires, plus a full-size spare, so nearly 4,000-lbs of steel & rubber...it really chokes the poor multifuel engine. The FMTV wheels are MUCH lighter and my Deuce is happier with them

    M35A2 power steering options?

I managed to move a bunch of crap away from the side of my Deuce (awaiting clutch replacement) so take a couple of pics upon request. I started off using modified FMTV wheels & adapaters that had a nice offset away from the steering box, but sometime around 2014 or 2015 I installed the steel...

    M35A2 power steering options?

No holes in any of my 395s, so I don’t know where that myth is coming from...just a little scrubbing on the tread shoulder, but any responsible driver knows the limits of the vehicle and won’t intentionally hold a tire rubbing on a steering arm
