    rope fasteners for 101

Actually, ya really don't. As I said earlier it's easier to whip the rope and it's actually a stronger solution. I don't like the metal clamp-on clips at all. See this video, fella does a very good job showing the technique. Just omit the eyelet for our purposes. Sent from my SM-G970U using...

    Spare parts question

I haven't ventured in for this angle of attack yet, but 22 years of AF acft maint helped me figure the UOC and such for my 101A3. I figured the searchable PDF is a cheat we use daily so that was my plan. What pearls of wisdom do you have up your sleeve? Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk

    rope fasteners for 101

Oh, and I tried the typical hardware store nylon rope and absolutely hated it!...it slips super easy. Buy the right rope for it and you'll beuch happier. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk

    rope fasteners for 101

I got my roll of rope from a seller in TX, arrived packaged still in original supply box with NSN sticker. Also seen these listed on GMG and Eastern. I'm not a fan of the OE metal clips that lash the rope thru the grommets, so my cousin taught me how to thread whip the eyelet...lots of...

    Spare parts question

I've recently come across these little guys. Seems to be a good combo visually without seeing a breakdown list. Is it wort the trouble to hold things like this if a guy cod find it for his model? Anyone know where this would be in the TM?...can't seem to find it. Sent from my SM-G970U using...

    Another 802A thread...but finally it's "my" 802

Commencement of shenanagains continues....enter the poor man's load bank. A note of interest that I haven't mentioned previously, we live in the mountains of Northern Arizona at an altitude of roughly 6860 ft. which according to the data plates de-rates this thing down to 4.3K...but I have yet...

M116A3 Hub size? or how do I fit Jeep Wheels?

Lots of folks ditch the OE axle to save weight and gain electric brakes...personally I think it's a bad idea, but it's just me. If I was in your shoes I'd call eTrailer or Croft after you remove one axle hub (this will allow you to confirm the Timken numbers which verifies the spindle/shaft...

    LS swap your M1008

It's a well documented process in the Squarebody arena. Many forums and FB groups go into great depth on the process and there's many companies that specialize in this since there's soo many variables to choose from. Googling "Squarebody LS swap" will open a massive wormhole to get lost in for...

M1008 rear lights lamps holders replacement

All the companies listed except Dorman (they are a parts manufacturer) have a paper catalog that you can order from their website. They are awesome references that you can use like a parts manual and can be a great tool in maintaining these old beasts. I keep one of each on a shelf for refrence...

M1008 rear lights lamps holders replacement

I've had good luck from companies that specialize in OEM restoration parts as things like this are not CUCV specific. In theory, any 80's Squarebody component should be a direct fit...key word, should. There's no telling what a previous owner may have sub'd-in for various reasons. Since GM made...

    M116A Brake Shoes

@juanprado good catch, I totally missed the A1...the assembly caught my eye. @Curtisje as I've heard NAPA is hit or miss depending on the skills of the guy behind the counter. Everyone I know has called Croft or eTrailer (emphasis on called) because their websites are not cataloged to the TM...

    M116A Brake Shoes

They're a Dexter brake assembly. Everything is available from Croft or eTrailer except the backing plate which lack the holes for the brake cable. Both vendors stock the components. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk

    Another 802A thread...but finally it's "my" 802

Sometimes it's the small details that make the package. I thought since there's plenty of open space in these GM wheels that the look would appreciate a little old-school treatment of black to the brake drums...give that polished aluminum the "pop" it deserves. The drums were a PITA to get off...
