M927A2 / M939- Strictly reliability upgrades and modifications.

As Simp5782 said, take it apart & either clean or replace the little O-ring at goes on the base (drain petcock). The O-ring is either dried/cracked or in need of some rejuvenation with some silicone grease.

Anyone going from Las Vegas to So Cal?

I'd love to help but I'm mired in a pool rebuild and my trailer is loaded with several tons of bagged Quikrete. Perhaps MuleMac01 could be enticed to help, he makes trips to SoCal.

    Special Commendation to 98G

John's a good man, and a man of his word. Not easy to find one like him these days.

What is this tank training gun worth?

Agreed, that is well worth saving and selling to a private collector. There are private owners of tanks & armored vehicles around you who might be interested in that, you should be able to find contact info through the MVPA. If no luck there, take teletech's advice and contact a Class 3 NFA...

Bitumen paint (sealant) on front differential hardware...

Or it looks like it may have been some commercial undercoating applied over the red paint....

Nevada - 5 ton's license plates pulled by DMV

In 2015 the state legislature amended the Classic Vehicle/Classic Rod laws to limit the allowable vehicles to a weight-carrying capacity of one ton or less, and it is not grandfather-able. I suspect that this is the origination of the OP of this thread to begin with. So in essence, only...

Nevada - 5 ton's license plates pulled by DMV

Whoever told you that is wrong. Our local MV club members had a meeting with the Assistant Director for the DMV several months ago, and she said that there is NOTHING that prohibits former MVs from being registered, as long as all of the NRS/DMV requirements are met. The only issue, as she...

    Super singles on M920

The commercially available 12R24.5" Goodyear G177 specs a diameter of 45.7 inches (max load 7160-lbs each in dual config, 14,320 per dual)....coupled with the 445/65R22.5 Goodyear G278 (max load 12,300-lbs each), it lists an overall diameter of 46 inches. And all tubeless, unlike the stock 24"...

    Super singles on M920

On my M920 I could not fit any 20-inch wheel over the front brake drums; I tried some steel 22.5-in wheels, and these would not fit either (brake drum diameter too great). So I borrowed some 24.5in wheels and they fit just fine. The M916A1 (Freightliner) front drums are slightly smaller...

Pretty sure my air packs shot.......

You know what you'll be getting with the rebuild: an AirPak that you should never have to worry about again. With an NOS/"new" AirPak, who knows...unless you know the date of manufacture/rebuild and it hasn't been sitting on a shelf or in someone's yard for 20 years or more. It all boils down...

Pretty sure my air packs shot.......

I think only one or two air fittings, IIRC. Fairly easy to interchange. I’d compare the cost of sending the long style off to be rebuilt against the cost of a NOS short style...if you send your long style in to be rebuilt, at least it will be a direct bolt-in when it’s returned.

Pretty sure my air packs shot.......

Is it a short or long AirPak? I’ve rebuilt both with success, but I did have a long AirPak last year that I rebuilt twice, and it suffered from the same symptoms you mentioned (blowing brake fluid out of the vent in engine compartment). There are parts inside that we cannot rebuild, so I...

    Wheel Bearings - Preload Question

My guess would be due to wear, however little or excessive...not to mention temperature variations that expand/contract metals, possibly causing minute movements & changes in the bearing races and seating of components over time. A good bit of pressure to re-seat everything together should put...

    Broken inner budd nut

I’ve had that happen several times. I took an outer Budd nut and threaded it onto the broken thimble, then arc-welded them together. Let them cool to the touch, and then they come right off. The heat from welding expands the metal & breaks the rust bond; when it cools it will shrink enough to...

    No air...

I wonder about the probability of moisture getting into the steering assembly and causing something to corrode and/or stick while sitting for long periods of time. Might be worth an upgrade to install an air dryer, as well as an extra air tank or two. Hopefully it's just the governor; easy fix...

    M35a2, non-turbo engine

I did the same with same results; I had to retard the timing on the injection pump by one tooth, as the slotted grooves in the tooth just wouldn't allow enough movement to align everything the way it needed to be. It cleared up the smoking and the engine ran nice & smooth afterwards. Removing...
