It's not only about a working switch, it's also about eliminating a failure point for the single circuit brake system. The brake switch that is plumbed into the hydraulic part is a bad idea. The switch can fracture and that leads to total brake failure. The military recognized that and upgraded...
Agreed...aftermarket but looks well built and tastefully done. Not a hack job. Like the wheel well cutouts. Very nice looking.

Also, after prolonged sitting with the fuel shutoff pulled, the shutoff in the injection pump can stick.
Verified by opening the square cover on the IP. Shutoff lever should point to 7 o clock position when released. If not, spray the heck out of it with wd40, move back and forth until free and...
Could not agree more. Maybe your fan shroud is bent or the top rad brace leans the rad too far inwards, or...
I believe the original design allows for an easy-ish belt change (save the compressor pulley complication).

My experience is with my LDT and LDS. After about a week of running after the rebuild I was surprised when I checked with the torque wrench how "loose" the head bolt nuts had become and, new gasket or not, I did a retorque. Personally I think it needs to be done.

Yes, you should be able to change the belts without pulling the rad. That said, as @92ramaro said, leaning the rad forward makes a bit more space for the procedure.
In a w/w truck, the rad cannot lean forward very much; you may need to remove the grille and also pay particular attention to...
You are missing the fact that, while the air operated dash switch causes the transfer case to disengage the front driveline, the front wheels during regular driving will still turn the front axle shafts, front diff and front driveshaft. This is because the front wheel hubs are permanently...
Careful! You do that once, she expects it every time! Moderate the expectations!
But...a fellow could level that front bumper because it makes ME twitch......OCD....OCD......
Wes is not a military truck mechanic - but a very thorough and methodical general vehicle and equipment mechanic from Illinois. In his YouTube channel he is tracking down a rear suspension issue on a M342 dump truck - very neat and interesting! What started like a loose trunnion bearing quickly...
Yes, the inner tubes will do just fine. They are usually good for a size up or down. Inner tubes for 9.00-20 have successfully been pressed into service for the 11.00-20 tires. One size DOWN is likely better than stretching the tubes into a much bigger tire.
GIft horse, mouth etc. and I agree...
My pics from a couple years ago, doing that very work (while replacing the dog bone ends). I can cheat when lifting, due to the massive trailer hitch on my truck.
A burr at the ferrule can cause persistent leaking. You could polish the ferrule with fine sand paper or scotch brite, then blow the line through and clean the ferrule, put a dab of grease on it (to grease between the line and the nut) and reassemble. If it still is not dry, tighten a little...
Here is my view of the world:
No, you really want the weight off the trunnion to assess/adjust and also grease properly. That means jacking up the frame until both axles are hanging free. Yes, it is a bit of a pain.
What you CAN do with the wheels on the ground is to take the covers off and...
Queen Lola went on a 125 mile/190km jaunt today. She was happy at 55 mph/88km/h turning 2100 rpm for most of it, some hilly backroads, a little gravel.
She really ran well. No undue noises (always welcome) and no undue leaks. A few drips from the transmission (normal when hot).
Side windows...
