    M1008 Build

Got half of the radiator support section pressure washed and primed today along with cleaning up a few of the other plastic radiator pieces. Ran out of paint, so I’ll be back at Lowes tomorrow when they open I guess.

Could be, but that (combination valve) wire should be in the forward harness, in conduit, and runs through the firewall via the main bulkhead harness connection.

Belt Squeak when Pressing Brake Pedal

As long as the one remaining belt is tensioned properly the system should operate normally. Having one belt doesn't affect the capability of the system, only the reliability as Keith J stated. That being said, having two belts does help prevent squeak by providing more surface area for the...

    Dark Seas M1008 Project

Not sure, doesn’t sound stock though. The forward harness (one of the three in the main bulkhead connector) includes only the lights, blackout lights, map light, coolant level sensor, several ground wire terminations (6), the horn, and the combination valve. The other two parts of the main...

    1) The pink wire is .8 PNK-30 (SXL) and goes to the fuel tank sending unit which is where your fuel gage signal comes from. See figure F-4 on the right near the middle. The shorter tan plug wire is .5 TAN-31 (SXL) for oil pressure. See figure F-3 bottom left. 2) That wire is the Fuel Shutoff...

Got her all done, did an unloaded retest and it’s working correctly. Unfortunately it was disassembled previously and not put back together correctly so I’ll have to go back in at some point to add a thrust washer. Also whoever was in there last routed the field winding wire on the wrong side of...

    M1008 Build

Got the coil and rotor cleaned up so far. Had to go to plan B on 2 of the stator coil fasteners. Looks pretty terrible inside and found that one of the field winding wires was completely worn through the insulation.

Looks can be deceiving. This is what happens when you leave a vehicle outside with no hood on it! 🤯

    M1008 Build

I’ve been working on some plumbing lately. Got the oil and trans lines cleaned and flushed, power steering partially installed, diff breathers, ant trans vacuum line cleaned up. Also started cleaning up the radiator which had some particularly nasty stuff in it. A few decades ago I used some...

Which bracket is broken so we can better help? I would start soaking that pulley with some WD-40 or penetrating fluid now.

If this is the wire that you are talking about, it’s the transmission downshift solenoid wire. It will have end to end continuity with the orange wire on the connector at the pedal. My picture is missing the brackets but I’m pretty sure this is the wire you are asking about.

Good discussion guys thanks! I personally don't re-use brake fluid. I do have a power bleeder, and a mighty-vac as well, but I don't typically use them. I think if I do regular maintenance on it I'll be fine. I like the fluid velocity that can be achieved with firm pedal action and a crisp...

That's great to know thanks! My son and I were able to get a great bleed done yesterday and when all was said and done we went through about 3 quarts of DOT 3. That's about a hundred and twenty bucks worth of fluid if I was using DOT 5!
  15. DIVE DIVE

    M1008 Build

I didn’t use DOT 5 fluid. I’m not sure why there is DOT 5 in these things in the first place unless someone had the foresight to know they would be sitting around for decades at a time. DOT 5 was 12.99 for 11 ounces and I bought a whole gallon of DOT 3 for 22.49 so that was an easy decision. All...

We’ll I was able to finally to make some progress after driving all over half the county. Pads I had to get from auto zone, and the rear I got from oreillys. I had to order two different passenger calipers before I got a painted one but there wasn’t any difference in the part numbers so you just...

    M1008 Build

So I’m having some trouble sourcing parts in a reasonable amount of time. The day is apparently upon us that a guy can’t go down to an auto parts store and buy a pair of Dana 60 brake pads off the shelf. Also, I ordered two calipers and got one that was painted and one not painted so I asked...

    M1008 Build

I’ll be bringing the brake system online soon. Need to get some calipers and a new master cylinder. All the lines are cleaned and blown down from beginning to end and ready to assemble.

Hey thank you, I hope so! I'm going with the 6.2 for sure, just waiting for one to show up.
