First Post - Introduction - My MEP003 Saga to Date...

Toolnut, I believe that you can get all the rebuild parts you need directly from Ambac, but you will find them to be pricey. They will take your credit card and shipping info over the phone so ordering from them is easy, if not cheap. I rebuilt my IP by replacing only the Oldham Drive...

    New from Texas

Hello and welcome, Redneck Rebel. I'm just up the road in Austin and occasionally get down your way whenever I'm lucky (or unlucky, depending on how you look at Green Addiction) to add to my pile o' parts from Ft Sam in SA. My main interests are the M35A2 and too many generators to list. You...

re-wiring my MEP-004a for different voltages, including single phase

Thanks for the well documented description of the easy way to rewire the voltage board to get single phase. I have always known that this 12-wire generator could be reconfigured for single phase, same any 12-wire generator. But you have shown the simple way to do it on the MEP series...

    leaking IP

Horst, I can address your last question about the dimple on the side of the shut off block (called the plunger sleeve by Bosch) and shown in Fig. 3-102 of TM9-2910-226-34. You ask "which way does the dimple go," because the HH can be assembled with the dimple either up or down (toward the top...

    Wow! What a truck!

That is indeed a very nice looking truck! As many other folks have already noted, you need another one to keep it company ... one to drive and one to work on. Welcome from Texas.:)

Very nice setup! Thanks for posting this with the video.

    Removing blower housing

What's still holding the blower housing on is one of the three bolts (in triangular formation) that hold the round air screen on the front of the unit. Had the hardest time figuring that out myself. To look at it, you'd think those bolts only hold the air screen to the blower housing sheet...

Just won the bid on a M35A2C at Tinker

Mike, One other bit of advice I can add about your proposed Oklahoma-to-Texas recovery is to stay on I-35 and other main highways as much as possible. Don't try to "hide" on the back roads trying to avoid traffic and LEOs. You'll be going much slower than other traffic no matter what road...

Just won the bid on a M35A2C at Tinker

Mike, you ask if your drive from OKC to DFW can be done legally. My son and I drove a pair of deuces from Norman to Austin two years ago, and I put quite a lot of effort into the legal paperwork situation. Here's what I found out. You can get a Texas "One Trip" permit for $5 that will cover...

    MEP-003A price

Eric, Go to LOGSA (https://www.logsa.army.mil/etms/online.htm) and search for Pub Number containing "6115-585" (without the quotes) to get the MEP-003A manuals. Same procedure with 6115-584 will find the MEP-002A manuals. Richard

    Run a 4 cylinder on just 2?

ST Dog, <<<Any one see a problem with capping the pump ports? Is my assumption about the same pump being used correct? >>> I have both 003A and 002A generators and they use the same IP except for the two ports capped off on the 002A. I would have thought that the IP would be unhappy with...

    Removing, rebuilding, reinstalling Hydraulic Head

Kennys, Yes, the bowtie washer (plunger guide) has a lot of slop by design, so you are good to go with the unbroken one you got from Gimp. I doubt there's any advantage to fabricating a tighter-fitting one. And the $15 + shipping price for a new one from Ambac may not be too extortionate...

    Removing, rebuilding, reinstalling Hydraulic Head

Congratulations on tackling this job and working your way through it to a successful conclusion. Just goes to show that many repairs in this hobby aren't really too difficult, just intimidating. I believe you have also documented what usually breaks in one of these injection pumps when the...

    Hello from Austin, TX

My gracious thanks to the welcoming committee, and especially to Fuzzytoaster. I suppose we could even become friends since I must be the only person in Austin who never attended ut (or is it "tu", I can't remember now.) Anyway, good to hear from you, and a little surprising since most of the...

    Hello from Austin, TX

I've been lurking and learning on this site for more than 2 years so I think it's time to say hello. Really a great bunch of guys/gals on here with more MV experience and knowledge than I will ever pick up. But I'll keep reading and learning. I have a couple of old M35A2's that I use for...
