Off to try the same repair on mine with the same behavior - almost started shopping for a new voltage regulator assembly! I hope I get lucky!
Also need a speed switch for an MEP-006 - anyone got one in the bone yard - that I know I need.
Hi all MEP-903 owners, fans (not many) and those that want to get rid of them
Hi all MEP-903 owners, fans (not many) and those that want to get rid of them:
I stopped trying to sell or make kits for these because they stopped selling them. They are tricky to rework with a new controller and...
We are working thru the mechanical refurb on a M1010 ambulance. To my surprise the charging system works fine but what is a little funky is the starting. On my M1031 the "Wait" light comes on for 15 seconds or so and then she starts first crank every time.
The M1010 has no Wait light and...
The CARC paints come in many colors and can be purchased from Sherwin Williams but at $90 per gallon that is steep. I was going to buy high quality oil based enamel out of Reno at $225 for five gallons (I'll need about 5 gal. for two trucks). This paint is similar to Rust Oleum Commercial they...
Interesting about eBay and late 80's big block K30 - I have one I've been trying to sell locally without any bites - I had never considered fleabay! It has PTO winch, dump bed, 6" extended chassis, dually one ton with 4x4. I'd started driving the M1031 figuring the gas was better - maybe I...
Just setting up to paint two CUCV trucks, an M1031 and a M1010 - need to make the call on most value add paint scheme.
Please advise on most value add and detail your support for that. I've seen olive drab go pretty high and I've seen dark camo do ok - these are great condition trucks so the...
Ok, we took a working MEP-002 start and moved it to an MEP-003 - thinking this was a straightforward change. First thing we hit was the larger MEP-003 fuel tank. So we undid the fuel tank strap and moved the tank so the solenoid would clear - strange but not a big deal.
Then the starter would...
Terry, I'm working a similar challenge locally.
There is a new on on eBay at - http://www.ebay.com/itm/STANADYNE-ROOSA-MASTER-DBMFC433-1LK-FUEL-INJECTION-PUMP-15KW-MILITARY-GENERATORS-/221396169448?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item338c3d72e8&vxp=mtr
Probably to expensive.
There...
Hey, I've rolled over the first 10,000 miles of putting an M1031 back to work in the civilian space. Lots of lessons learned and plenty of questions. Over the last year we fixed: burnt glow plug control board, glow plugs, three heater cores, death wobble from ****, bolts in front driveline, cab...
Can the Moderator post suppliers for the parts mentioned? We'll all need the parts one day and sourcing parts has proven time consuming in the past. Thanks!
Anyone have experience on the MEP-004 or others with High Leg Delta and loading the 240 L-L for residential use while keeping the 3 phase ? I'm curious and have done the Zig-Zag single phase conversion and very happy but also know that one is losing 30% of the output - which is damm sloppy even...
Pump on eBay - looks right but not sure - anyone verify?

Ok, it appears a rebuild kit is available at a semi-reasonable price. Brand new bolt in pumps - not so much. We have hundreds of these out there - they are all going to need pumps someday - we need to find the cross reference and cost effective option.
Anyone actually use the rebuild kit?
Ok, my MEP-004 water pump is gone, sparks flying from fan hitting the shroud. So bearing or carrier or something is going and need to be replaced. I need help with parts - according to page Figure 73 or page 276 of the parts manual TM 9-9661-464-24P there is a kit NSN 2930-00-678-3818 for the...
Ok, interesting: here are two paragraphs that I find key from my Google search.
In most cases, leakage occurs at the heater core tank or close to it, from the pulsation of a high coolant flow rate. Some heater cores have been designed with inlet plates that distribute the flow to minimize the...
