We have never had to do an arrival recovery mission. I was close to needing help in 2013. I had just finished putting the 6.2 in the M715 that week. Maybe 10 miles of testing. When I hooked the trailer to it and loaded a M1009 all seemed well until I got to 3rd gear. Then the cooling fan started...
Now that the real information has been posted. Here is how things have worked in the past. The closer we get to the Rally people will start posting their travel plans. Normally someone near or on that route will chime in and a convoy will get formed. There have been several mini convoys out of...
They look correct. I have not personally tried them though.
Those oil cooler lines have been a hidden fault on the trucks since new. GM did a recall a few years after the trucks were introduced. There is a chance yours has never had the recall performed. Others have called local Chevy stores...
Yes present conflict vehicles are welcome. We have always welcomed any former military vehicle. or one close to such. The museum has gradually gotten to like us too.
Have you taken the gauge cluster apart, cleaned every surfaces and the bulbs themselves? Along with making sure the bulbs are the correct bulbs for that application? What is your voltage off the front battery with the engine running?
I guess some perspective is needed.
When we first started doing this thing Mullins didn't want our "new" military vehicles at his WWII show. He and his people had turned several of us away from even parking at his event in our Vietnam era vehicles. So, Lincoln got us in with the offroad...
Well, the M715 is always a hit at the museum and ready for a trip.
I can’t afford the 4.5 mpg to drive the Gasser M35 there.
The whistler M35A2 has a mis I think is a blown rear head gasket so it isn’t coming Unless I get some unexpected free time to repair it.
The M1009’s are ready to go as...
Fair enough. You wrote that the injection pump had been replaced by you. Did you line the lines up even or is the pump to one side of the engine line a little? If you turn it one line width to the drivers side. You won't cause any problems and probably get a performance pick up. Not much...
Injection pump timing might gain you a hair of performance. But, as has been written. Once you get to where you are pushing the pedal down further and nothing is changing. Just back off to where you can make changes and keep it there as the speed goes down. If smoke is coming out of the...
Welcome to the fun. At the top of the page there is a tab labeled "TM". Open that tab then click on the very first thread called "TM's for the CUCV." Then open the one that ends in -20. Appendix F of that manual is a complete very detailed wiring diagram for the entire truck.
The CUCV...
The CUCV wiring is very unique but once you get in the zone of concentration and pay attention to it. They are really kind of neat. I had to think about what you wrote in CUCV instead of regular wiring language.
The front battery is charged by alternator 1 and that 12 volts is what runs the...
There have been several threads on this site of people putting 6 lug axles under a M101. Lots of people have put regular ball hitches on as well. Expedition Portal seems to always have threads about changing axles on M101 trailers to match up to wheels on 4runners and Jeeps too.
I had the same issue at one time. Pull the in tank pump and verify the screens on it are clear of crud. Then go through the other 3 filters again is my suggestion.
